When Leonardo da Vinci captivated the world with the Vitruvian Man in 1490, it set standards of the ideal proportions for the human body. The drawing, which is in pen and ink on paper, depicts a man in two superimposed positions with his arms and legs apart and inscribed in a circle and square. As mankind progressed, varying from shapes and sizes, the standard that Leonardo implemented became inconsistent. Fast forward to the year 2016 (August), I am now constructing an experiment to prove that the standards Leonardo da Vinci set are infact inconsistent. The Italian Renaissance started during the 1300’s and lasted until the about the 1600’s. The Renaissance was a massive rebirth of art after the middle Ages and it started in Florence in Italy where many people had started to study the learning and art of ancient Greece and Rome. These people wanted to recapture the Greek and Roman cultures in their own way. The Italian Renaissance had begun! During the Renaissance there were many different people who became what is known as a Renaissance Man. Leonardo da Vinci is an excellent example of a Renaissance Man.
