Leonardo was an artist, a scientist, and an inventor in the medieval times. He is sometimes referred to as, the renaissance man. Leonardo Da Vinci loved nature and science. He had a special interest in anatomy. Leonardo Da Vinci, created the masterpiece, Vitruvian man, to show how the marvelous human form is proportioned, and examined dead corpses of both humans and animals, while recording his findings in his works.

Leonardo Da Vinci was a famous Italian Renaissance polymath painter and sculptor. He was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy. He lived with his father, Piero Fruosino di Antonio da Vinci. Da Vinci was an only child until he was 25. He was an apprentice for Andrea di Cione, known as Verrocchio. When Da Vinci was 20 he worked on his first painting. In 1479, he moved to Florence, Italy. He did a painting in 1480 and never finished it. In 1482, he moved to Milan, Italy. While he was in Milan he volunteered to be a military engineer. He did many paintings while he was in Milan. Da Vinci won the duke over in 1489. He got to do the horse sculpture that he wanted to do. He did not get to finish it, because they got attacked by the French

When Leonardo da Vinci captivated the world with the Vitruvian Man in 1490, it set standards of the ideal proportions for the human body. The drawing, which is in pen and ink on paper, depicts a man in two superimposed positions with his arms and legs apart and inscribed in a circle and square. As mankind progressed, varying from shapes and sizes, the standard that Leonardo implemented became inconsistent. Fast forward to the year 2016 (August), I am now constructing an experiment to prove that the standards Leonardo da Vinci set are infact inconsistent. The Italian Renaissance started during the 1300’s and lasted until the about the 1600’s. The Renaissance was a massive rebirth of art after the middle Ages and it started in Florence in Italy where many people had started to study the learning and art of ancient Greece and Rome. These people wanted to recapture the Greek and Roman cultures in their own way. The Italian Renaissance had begun! During the Renaissance there were many different people who became what is known as a Renaissance Man. Leonardo da Vinci is an excellent example of a Renaissance Man.

Leonardo da Vinci is perhaps one of the most famous examples of a Renaissance man. His skill in many areas and thinking mind brought about new ideas that would change the world. The Renaissance was a time filled with artists, philosophers, sculptors, and some of the most revolutionary minds of the day. Leonardo da Vinci was not only a skilled artist and designer who created such famous works as The Mona Lisa, Lady with an Ermine and The Last Supper, but a skilled thinker who tackled many of the dilemmas and issues of the day.

His drawings also consisted of plant studies, war machinery, anatomy, and architecture. His sketches of a fetus, the heart and vascular system, sex organs and other bone and muscular structures are some the first on human record. His interest in human anatomy helped him master realistic paintings.
