August 10, 1909 in Anaheim, California, an amazing soon-to-be mechanic and creator of the most famous guitar company in the world was born, Clarence Leonidas, better known as "Leo" Fender. The funny thing about Leo was that he never learned to play the guitar, he was only a mechanic. He started his mechanic hobby when he was just fourteen. Fender showed interest with electronics at a very early age. It all started when his uncle who ran an automotive-electric shop sent him a box that contained car radio parts and a battery. A few months later, Leo visited his uncle's shop in Santa Maria, California. He was fascinated with everything, especially the radio his uncle had built from spare parts that was bursting loud music. After college, Fender took a job as a delivery man for Consolidated Ice and Cold Storage Company in Anaheim. Later, he was made bookkeeper of Anaheim. Very….”interesting” jobs. Shortly after those two jobs, a local band leader asked Leo to build him a public address system. Fender was contracted to build six of those PA systems. (A PA System is an electronic sound amplification and distribution system with a microphone, amplifier and loudspeakers, used to allow a person to speak to a large public, etc.) Some of his most famous designs are still used today like these four examples: In 1950, Fender made his most popular guitar design- the Telecaster, it was the first mass-produced solid-body electric guitar made. A year later (1951), he made the Fender Precision Bass, this set the for most electric bass guitars, and the Fender Bassman amplifier.
