Indiana has approved House Bill 1337 which protects fetuses from being aborted once they are diagnosed with Down Syndrome inside the womb.

I am going to be writing about House Bill 375. House Bill 375 is a law which allows citizens the right to either open carry without a license to carry permit. As of The Legislative Budget Board in Austin Texas (2017) “The bill would amend chapter 30 and 46 of the penal code to provide that a person who is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a firearm shall not be required to obtain any license to carry (LTC) a handgun as a condition for carrying a handgun. The bill would also remove the penalties associated with possession of a handgun without an LTC, provided a person is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a handgun. The democrats are saying it is a very unnecessary law. The republicans are saying Texans shouldn’t be forced to pay just to exercise their Second Amendment right. I am going to touch base on both issues with a few examples.

Currently Carmel Partners is an organization that does not have an organized union or any labor representation. The employees are all hired and work on an at-will basis. The two house congress is compose of the House of representation, is based on population. The House of Representatives has 434 member, one from each district of the fifty states. In order to serve in House of representative, he or she must have to be 25 years old, a citizen for seven years and a resident of the state one wants to represent. Representation is determined by population. The senate has two senators from each state for a total of 100. To be a Senator, one must be at least 30 years old, a citizen for nine years and a resident of the state one wants to represent. Senators were chosen by the state legislature which meant they tend to be politically important members of the state’s elite class. However, this changed with the 17th amendment,

You are able to serve as many terms you want as long as they are not consecutive terms.The people are the ones that elect the state legislatures for each of the 31 states and also the governors. Each member of the Senate are elected to represent their state. If the state is bigger there will be more representatives for that state. In the Chamber of Deputies 300 of the deputies are elected from the country’s electoral districts and the other 200 seats are filled by deputies who do not represent a particular district. The beginning of the United States constitution was the preamble. The preamble states a brief summery of the contents of what the constitution will hold. Before the constitution was thought upon, there was something called the articles of confederation. This document served as the first constitution for the newly independent country. The executive branch in a parliament is held accountable to the legislative branch and the head of the government. A parliament is usually found in the United Kingdom, like Great Britain and other Asian Areas that were once ruled by Britain. The Parliament has two houses. There is an upper house and a lower house. The upper house is known as the Senate and the lower house is known as the National Assembly. A Prime Minister is elected by the majority of the parliament party vote. They are expected to follow all rules and laws strictly. The parliament has a house of the Lord and House of the commons. The parliament is under a Prime Minister. To be a member of a parliament, one must be chosen by a political party. If a bill goes before a parliament, it is done by a majority vote for the bill to pass. Next there is the committees system or the congressional committee which is the workhorses of Congress. Many issues are brought to Congress everyday and as the list grows, lawmakers are the ones who go through all the facts and determine how the issue should be resolved. Congress has these things called Standing Committees and Select Committees. Standing Committees have the power to guide a piece of legislation into their area of jurisdiction. Select Committees are more of an advisory. Committees also have subcommittee, who are responsible for analyzing each issues and to make recommendations to their full committee or as other call it their parent committee. It is vital that the subcommittee process of making recommendations is completed early on in review. Also in the early stages of review the subcommittees can welcome input from other organization and individuals. The subcommittee and their staff have a huge impact on the panel recommendations. Subcommittees can also hold public hearing which allow for people to give their position on the issues or their opinion on the issue.

The Legislative branch is headed by Congress which consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate. They have the power to pass laws, originating spending bills, impeaching officials, and approving treaties. Article I has a huge influence over our country because of the enormous power that the Legislative branch possesses. Article I gives Congress its powers and limits. The Legislative branch principal mission is to make laws. Article I creates two sections of Congress which are the Senate and the House of Representatives. Creating two sections is important to the democratic principles because it prevents a single group or individual from having too much power. The Legislative branch also has the power to check and balance the other two federal branches. Article I also creates a democratic process of voting by selecting each House of Representatives and Senate of the United States. One meaningful aspect of article I is that it explains the duties of Congress regarding money, citizenship, and war. I strongly believe that article I is one of the most important articles because it establishes the responsibilities of the Legislative branch while also distributing the power so laws are passed democracy.

To me, it seems currently in the United States the legislative branch has the most power. The legislative branch creates laws for the country. These laws, for the most part, affect everyone in the United States. One reason I feel the legislative branch has the most power is that the laws they create are sent to the president; however, if the president "vetoes" the law, the legislative branch can overrule the president with a two-thirds vote. In the constitution, it states the legislative branch is the only branch that can declare war on another country.

The powers of the Legislative branch meet the American’s needs and concerns in many diverse ways. One way they meet American needs is through the rules regarding taxes. An example of this can be seen in Section 8 of the Constitution, where it states, “The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States;” (https://docs.google.com/document/d/19AW16JBuIuBv30MsFuoRlfU1fzvFXuMo-N7ZvMSOlpk/edit) Summarized, this means that the Legislative branch has the power to impose taxes on the people of the United States to do things such as, pay off debt, maintain our security, and provide for the general welfare or needs of the people and government. Checks and balances is a method used to balance government power and individual rights .This way leaders do not gain too much power,which could take societies liberties .This was very important to the founding fathers,so they then seperated government into three branches,which are the Legislative,executive and Judical .This way they all check each other , to have independent powers and areas of responsibility. .The system of checks and balance does work because each branch can prevent another branch from overstepping its bounds and abusing its power.
