Sometimes it is hard to lead by example. Making good decisions require taking a challenging path. There is peer pressure, sacrifices, and many other components that make leading by example hard to follow through. The other 4 parts in Rachel’s Code of Ethics include loving, forgiving, showing mercy, and helping. However, leading is all of these things. Leaders are the key to any success, which is why leading is the most difficult of the Code of Ethics to uphold. First of all, leading is the most challenging to uphold because of peer pressure. Leaders have to face a lot of peer pressure. They may have to make a decision that rebels against their peers’ decision. A leader’s decision may be “uncool”, because doing the right thing may not seem like the popular choice. Many decisions that leaders have to make are decisions that do not fit in with the crowd. Peer pressure is only one of the many challenges of being a leader. …show more content…
There’s a quote that says, “stay humble in the spotlight and true in the dark”. Leaders have to do the right thing—even when no one is watching. People may stand in the way of making the right decision. Leading also requires taking a narrower path. Choosing to take the long road—and sticking to it—is one of the many sacrifices of being a leader. The last and one of the biggest challenge of being a leader would be making sacrifices. A leader may have to give up sitting with friends at lunch to sit by someone who is alone. You may have to sacrifice time to participate in after-school activities or clubs. You may also have to take time out of your regular activities to do other things such as volunteering at a food pantry or glove drive. All of these sacrifices a leader makes will have a purpose in the long
" he [Heinrich Schliemann] found layers of ruins and two bore unmistakable signs of violent destruction. One of these layers, the seventh according to more recent excavators, was no doubt the city of Priam and Hector. The historicity of the Homeric tale had been demonstrated archaeologically." - M.I. Finley, the World of Odysseus
“I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion” Alexander the Great. In the book, Lord of the Flies there were two obvious leaders. Ralph and Jack attempted to lead the boys in very different ways and for very different reasons. Being a good leader is about doing what’s best for everyone not yourself. There are many people in the world that would make effective leaders. A person I know that is an effective leader is my Uncle Eric.
Sometimes to be a good leader you have to be able to make sacrifices. For example, every Thanksgiving I work the Thanksgiving community dinner and serve a hot meal to someone less fortunate than I am. Although it is a rewarding experience, I find it hard to get up on a day I don’t have school and miss my own Thanksgiving dinner. Another example of community leadership
Leadership is a very difficult yet gratifying role to play in Garden City high school. Throughout the school day I feel I put in a surplus of effort in everything I do from homework to being kind, but a lot of the time I feel I am not noticed and that is what I think is the biggest challenge of being a leader; not being noticed but still going on in what you do, also whenever things go wrong the leader is the first to be blamed. So if your wanting to be a leader you're gonna have to be tough and confident.
Leadership is one of the most challenging of the ability’s I had to learn. Being a leader was hard learning all the commands and making sure your squad was doing everything right. The leadership role was fun but it also came with big responsibilities.
When I was younger, I always thought being a leader was all about telling people what to do. Glenwood taught me that was not the case at all. Here at Glenwood, I learned to lead by example. I am the battalion commander in our military program. When I teach our new students how to do a certain commander, I demonstrate it. When I have to teach them how to make their own bed I demonstrated it. Lead by example. I as well learned how to control my emotions and when I lead to lead with my head. All leaders are not perfect. It is not the mistakes that show me who I am, but I how I deal with
Ladies and gentleman, we are gathered here to push the human race forward. We believe that by improving the educational system we are investing in our future, that everyone should be able to access the type of education that is right for them. Nowadays America faces a very distressful situation regarding the educational reach of our system, which has been engaged with several issues, such as unequal access to education, student dropouts, violence within the walls of the classroom, bullying, gender bias and standardized tests that put the educational community at the verge of a methodic and old fashion evaluation process which eventually lead to a particular lifestyle of the students. Also, the lack of interest in the matter of community service has been rising, as well as our concern for the safe keeping of the citizen’s humanitarian values.
Leaders have been around since the beginning of history in which their decisions and actions molded today’s society. From George Washington’s command to victory during the revolutionary war to the triumph of Martin Luther King Jr.’s nonviolent equal rights movement, there have been leadership qualities that have been evident throughout history. Society depends on the abilities of leaders in order to progress in the right direction and finish a specific task. There are many forms of leaders in which different skills are required. Each person has a different view of what a leader and leadership is, however, everyone is influenced by the leader they choose. An efficient leader is someone others turn to for guidance, direction, and inspiration in order to complete a goal. One who possesses leadership qualities is able to influence and persuade individuals in order to attain a desired end. Everyone has the power to be a leader and make a difference in their community. The leaders on Long Island are an important aspect of society because they influence the futures of teens and help them to discover their abilities.
Leaders play a big role in the way a group functions. Without a leader, it is rare that the group even lasts. Leaders have to be strong and firm. They have to be able to lead a group well in rough situations and even in easy situations. Leaders have to be brave in order for their followers to be like them. They have to be brave enough to make risky decisions for themselves and for their group. They also have to trust that
Santiago feels alarmed because he has no idea how to turn into the wind, and over the next three days he contemplates the desert. On the third day, he communicates with the wind and the sun and coaxes them to help him create a tremendous sandstorm. He prays to the Hand That Wrote All, and at the height of the storm he disappears. He reappears on the other side of the camp, and the tribesmen, awed by the power of the storm and by Santiago’s ability, let him and the alchemist go free. The alchemist continues to travel with Santiago as far as a Coptic monastery several hours from the pyramids. There, he demonstrates to Santiago his ability to turn lead into gold using the Philosopher’s Stone. He gives Santiago a piece gold and sends him off. Santiago begins digging for the treasure at the pyramids, but two men grab him and start beating him. When Santiago speaks to them about his dream and why he is there, they decide he must have no money and let him live. Before leaving, one of the men tries to tell him the worthlessness of dreams by telling Santiago about his own dream. It concerns a treasure buried in an abandoned church in Spain where a sycamore tree grows. The church is the same one in which Santiago had his original dream, and he finally understands where his treasure is.
Growing up, I realize the important leadership roles that should be recognized in every day life. Leadership is an important part of one's self character because when someone sees you as a leader they tend to grow more onto you so they can be like you. Part of this statement fits a powerful quote i've always lived by while being around others. "It is the men behind who make the man ahead," this quote by Merle Crowell, fits the man I've molded into, simply because I have realized in numerous ways on how my actions can impact other people's actions. My parents always raised me to believe that what you put in is what you get out. So of course, I believe that if I make the decisions to be a follower of the wrong path, then wrong will follow me as well. Instead, I choose to take the golden path and promote a better outcome for my future and hopefully other's also. Sticking to the routine of a leader builds you into an even better leader. Being a better leader, makes me a better man each day that I choose this route as the leader of my path.
A common misconception is that leaders are extremely vocal and outgoing . When people imagine a leader, they imagine a person who is going to guide them through tough situations, and be vocal about how they can deal with them. What they don’t realize, is that maybe this isn’t the type of leadership that is best for them. These leaders may seem meek, but they show strong trust, calmness, and humbleness. They demonstrate trust by having faith in other people.
Leading someone can be an honor. When I was persistent, communicating, and inspirational to others then I knew that I have the qualities of leading others. If I am involved in any type of team I will give it my all to get number one. If this position is not earned then I will see how to improve and be better next time. When others look up to you then you have to be persistent so the goal everyone is trying to achieve is accomplished. When my soccer team had finals in one week I, the captain of the team, was focused to practice only and make sure we can fix anything we can. I would lead the team to practice for long hours because if we wanted that trophy then we had to be determined and earn it. During the game, the captain needs to keep everyone’s
A leader is no ordinary person. You can’t learn to be a leader; you must be born with the strong, willing characteristic. Leadership is important in countless aspects of life: business, army, politics, etc. Although every job is
Leadership is something that people are born with. It is an inherent charm and it doesn’t hide even if you want to hide it. There is a leader amongst us and he or she is the one that leads other people to great things by inspiring and motivating people to do good deeds. Leadership has been described as “a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task”. This way a leader can decide what work goes in and goes out. Good leaders in history have left a mark in walks of life. But great leaders, they’re different. Great leaders have the ability to make each and every individual re-think their life decisions and choices by
