A lot of things interested me. All the statistics were really helpful in helping me understand the lead causes of deaths and crashes. I learned that the leading cause of the teens death was teens running off the road. I thought that the leading cause was going to be distracted driving because a lot of teens are always on their cell phones texting or changing music. I also didnt know that the leading causes of crashes was following another driver too closely. I also thought that the distracting would be higher on the list but it wasnt as I expected. I also didn't know that the leading cause of death to 15-20 year olds was driving fatalities. I learned that you have a much greater chance of surviving a crash and not getting hurt as much if you
These statistics were crazy to read and all of them were kind of unbelievable, but I think the fact that shocked me the most was that following to closely was 20% of crashes for teenagers. I would have guessed it would be distracted driving like being on their phones or doing things like that. My second guess was speeding but it came up third which really surprised me because teenagers kind of have a reputation of driving faster than the speed limit. It just shocks me that number one was following too closely because I feel like it's not something that is as big as speeding or distracted driving are. The other fact that scared me a little bit was the fact that in 2015 3,477 people died and there were 391,000 people with injuries all due to
It was an eye opener to see all of the many different facts about teens and driving. There were many different facts that stuck out to me. I will go over a few in particular below. To start, one that surprised me quite a bit was from the article “Teen Drivers: Get the Facts” when it states “Teen drivers ages 16 to 19 are nearly three times more likely than drivers aged 20 and older to be in a fatal crash.” I didn’t believe this one for a second because of how crazy this one is. It’s just hard for me to understand how teenagers are 3 times more likely to be in a fatal crash than non-teenagers. I assumed before reading these facts that teen fatalities happened at a higher rate than non-teenager fatalities, but I did not think that it was as much
Suicide was the second leading cause of death for 15-34 year olds in the United States in 2013 (Center for Disease Control, 2015). Additionally, the rates of suicide have increased 24% from 1999-2014 (Curtin, Warner & Hedegaard, 2016). Sadly, perfectionism has been found to be a significant predictor of suicidal ideation and completed suicide (Hewitt, Caelian, Chen & Flett, 2014; Flett, Hewitt & Heisle, 2014), as well as parasuicidal behaviors (Ayerst, Flett & Hewitt, 2012). Research by Kiamanesh, Dieserud, Dyregrov and Haavind (2015) have shown that maladaptive perfectionism was associated with unanticipated suicide in six adult men. Although perfectionism is a significant predictor of suicidality, the incorporation of interventions aimed at perfectionism are not abundant within programs aimed at preventing suicide (Flett, Hewitt & Heisel, 2014). Thus, it is important to understand how perfectionism relates to suicide, as well as learn how to target perfectionism when there are no clear indicators of suicidal ideation.
Suicide is a major issue among today. In 1998, suicide was the eighth leading cause of death in the United States. Although suicide is a problem, it can be stopped. In this essay, you are going to read a little bit about the causes of suicide, ways to prevent it, and some suicide statistics.

For every successful suicide, there are ten men and women who attempt suicide. And for every one of those, there are ten who think of killing themselves, but do not.(Some Reasons). People commit suicide for multiple reasons.
Every 40 seconds someone in the world DIES by suicide, every 41 seconds someone is left to make SENSE of it. Suicide is when someone intentionally end his or her own life for varying reasons which they find them reasonable and worthy enough to give up their lives. Suicide is event that is hard to cope with especially then the one who dies is young the devastation is even more profound. Suicide recently settled in the 3rd place of the top leading cause of death among 15 to 24 year olds, barely surpassed by homicide and accidents (http://www.kidshealth.org). Many life events that happens on daily basis could lead to thoughts as confusion, self-doubt, bullying, depression, financial issues or pressure to succeed. When It comes to pressure to succeed in some countries like Egypt parents are adamant about the idea that their children must achieve educational ranks and get enrolled in what they see high prestigious majors as medicine and engineering. Suicide would be prevented more psychologically than physically as the tools used for ending one’s life or self-harming usually is accessible to all the people, it could be a firearm, pills or jumping of heights they are all easy to reach methods or tools. However, parents rarely give attention or realise the prevalence of suicide.

People need to understand that teens are people too they have the same feelings as everyone else maybe a little stronger but they are still people. Suicide is is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Risk factors include mental illness such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, alcoholism, or drug abuse. People choose suicide when they are hopeless or when they think there isn’t anyone that cares for them anymore. They can also choose this if they think there isn’t an end to their suffering or to their problem. Most of the time this happens because of depression and in some cases bullying, it can also happen because of alcohol or because of a major stressful event that has happened. Suicide can really happen anywhere and at any time.Suicide is a problem that exists because the numbers of suicide keep going up and won’t come down.

For example the teenage years are usually filled with stress, confusion, academic, and social pressure.
Suicide is one of the top ten causes of death in the United States. I believe that suicide is mostly influenced by low self-esteem, which could be seen as a loss of self-worth. This is due to the fact that most suicidal deaths are caused by feelings of worthlessness, along with the fact that people who suffer from mental illness also have problems with accepting themselves for who they are. In this short essay, I will be illustrating the effects of low self-esteem on suicide rates with the help of research from various articles, first-hand accounts on the relationship between low self-esteem and suicide, and my very own personal experience.
Today, the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. The researchers studied a high-risk group of psychiatric patients after their most recent attempt of suicide and compared them to equally ill patients without a history of suicide attempts. Treatment for patients who have just recently attempted suicide usually are put in a short-term inpatient unit for creating a crisis plan and becoming stabilized. Once these patients are released from the unit they are at a higher risk for repeated attempts or successful suicide. This risk lasts much longer than just a year after their first attempt. To assess the patients in the study the researchers gave them several self-reporting tools to fill out. Some of these tools included the RFLI, CDRISC,
Suicide is the act of intentionally taking one’s own life in an attempt to cope with stress or cry for help. Causes of suicide include mental disorders such as depression, exposure to other suicidal individuals, or domestic violence. Potential victims are oftentimes at a very unstable time in their lives and it makes it hard to distinguish thoughts of suicide from other thoughts, however, they generally show warning signs, which can be used to prevent the situation if treated correctly and in a timely manner. When meeting someone who would has thoughts of committing suicide, there are certain things to take into consideration before taking any sort of action. The DECIDE model is an organizer that assists us in breaking down the situation,
Suicide takes a lot of loved ones away. They can make the families and friends of the victim very sad and at loss at times. It makes them feel like they wronged the individual and that they are the reason that they have committed suicide. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, it is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, which proves that a lot of families have to go through this.Suicide affects the victim's family and friends by making them feel guilty, depressed, anger towards the person that committed suicide, and increases the chances of the suicide loss victim committing suicide.
“Pain don’t hurt the same, I know the lane I travel feels alone, but I’m moving ‘til my legs give out, and I see my tears melt in the snow, but I don’t want to cry, I don’t want to cry anymore…” (Logic, 2017). The thought of someone committing suicide is usually an afterthought to most people in today’s society. Often times, individuals overlook the reality of someone committing suicide until it happens to a close family member or friend, yet suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States of America, according to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. I believe suicide can be prevented and controlled, by increasing education about suicide prevention and observing the warning signs of suicidal behavior. This will help in decreasing the prevalence of suicide.
