Introduction
Within today’s healthcare environment, leaders must set the tone as visionaries and develop and implement leadership strategies to adapt to the constant changes that may impact the healthcare delivery system. Can a healthcare organization have transformation leadership without implementing a clear vision and strategies? With that being said, it is vital for healthcare leaders to develop a transformation leadership style to establish the best practice to delivery safe, quality, and care in healthcare organizations. Transformational leadership theory applies four factors for leaders to influence employees to perform beyond their abilities. These factors describes leaders that promote leadership through idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration (Shresh & Rajini 2013).Transformational leaders are deem as the most effective leadership style because of their character strengths as a excellent role model who leads by example and manage people based on their strengths and weaknesses to optimizes the organization performance (Shresh, & Rajini, 2013). Transformational leaders are known to reward, encourage and mentor people based on performance through inspiration, creativity, and innovation to solve problems to exceed expectation of the organization (Smith, …show more content…

Transformational leaders encourage nurses to combine research evidence with clinical knowledge to improve the delivery of care through intervention, targeted outcome and research evidence (Stevens, 2013). The transformation leadership theory is most effective in changing the behavior of nurses and clinicians is the advancing research and clinical practice through close collaboration (ARCC) model (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2011). Transformational leaders mentor nurses and clinicians the value of EBP through close collaboration and promote EBP education to improve patient outcomes. Using transformational leadership principles in nursing practices will create a culture that promotes shared knowledge and open reporting to support and inspire team members to learn and get involved to improve organizations (Stevens, 2013).
Conclusion
Transformational leaders are those that transform the healthcare environment and influence and motive their followers to become leaders.
