Rebecca Felton was born Rebecca Ann Latimer on June 10, 1835 to plantation owners Eleanor and Charles Latimer. Her parents quickly recognized the intelligence in their first born and began to hire tutors when she was merely five years old. She would go on to attend school at a private school located in a Presbyterian Church, and then on to college at Madison Female College. Upon her 1852 graduation, she earned three distinct honors in that she was one of few women to receive a classical liberal arts education, she maintained the highest grades, and was the youngest member of her class at only seventeen. She would marry the speaker from her college graduation ceremony, Dr. William H. Felton, in October of 1853.

Quran Phillips was seventeen years old with two brothers. His brothers names were James and Randy. James was thirty years old, lived in his own house, in Miami Florida, was an assistant coach for the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association, and he was Quran’s older brother. Randy was ten years old, lived with Quran and their mother in Miami Florida, and was Quran’s younger brother. Hannah Senesh was born in Budapest, Hungary, on July 17, 1921. She had a younger brother and her parents were an author and a journalist. She was always very talented in writing. Throughout her life, she kept a diary and wrote many poems. She was Jewish, and in 1939, she moved to Israel with her brother because of anti-semitism in Hungary. In Israel, she attended an agricultural school, and later settled at the Kibbutz Sdot Yam. Hannah Senesh was brave, and stood her ground for what she thought was right. She did what she knew what good for other people, even if it hurt her.

She was capturing them during the civil war which got them more of a population and help fight for their rights. She was the first woman to ever lead a American expedition in American history.

She did countless things to pass an amendment which would grant the women their wish of being able to have their rights. Including a hunger strike, a silent protest, and she even endured force feeding. She changed the law to where if the mother of a slave had kids then the kids wouldn’t have to be a slave with their mother. She also made sure that daughters would get there fair share that they needed or deserved.

The first author wrote about how she became known. She wasn’t a big fan of Lincoln because of him favoring having slaves. She raised funds to help the war. She met the Governor of Massachusetts because he had heard about her and he had also hated having slaves around. She also joined the Quaker Volunteers. She became very well known for theses things she did.

She later got caught and was later put into prison in 1864 by confederate troops and taken into prison. Along with Mary Edward walker, Clara Barton, was an Army nurse. Clara was to serve help in curing injured men. She had a bad experience when she went to go cure a man, a bullet that killed the man she was helping was peireced threw her sleeve. She had been assisting him and tried to save him, but it was too late and he had died. Also these women made a legacy in life, Underground Railroad, being the first US army women surgeon, and the foundation of the American Red Cross. Mary Todd Lincoln, who was married to Abraham Lincoln. Although she was a lot different then the other important women in the civil war, she was just as important. She was the wife of the president during the war. Although she did not exactly fight or become a nurse of the war, she still had to take care of her family and all of Abraham’s stressful days. She had to mend to her children’s needs while Abraham was out making sure the troops in the war were in the right standings. When 1865 came around it was a terrible year for her, her family and her heart were crushed. Her loved one was assassinated, and her family and herself had no idea how to handle it.
