“The Prodigy has put on a show tonight!” the announcer says, when the 18 year old all star center scored his third goal of the night. The kid’s got everything going for him, a nice house outside Toronto, Ontario, parents who both have money, and a god given talent on the ice. He’s out there for the final minute of the game, up 3-2 after his third goal gave them the lead. His job, protect the lead and win the game. He wins the face-off, gets the puck back from his linemate, and cuts in over the blue line. As he approaches the net, he dodges a hit, but the defender falls on the outside of his knee, collapsing it as he took the shot. The tv broadcaster yells “OTTERS GOAL! What a play by Laflamme!... Uh oh, he’s having trouble getting up folks.” Laflamme gets up slowly, favoring his left leg as he skated back to center ice to finish the last 12 seconds of the game. His coach, however, called him to the bench to sit him down. “Great job bud. You did what we needed.” Coach Wilson said. Thomas replied, hiding his …show more content…
He was still The Prodigy, but he had to prove to all the scouts he could bounce back and still be the player they wanted. In his first game back, he was ecstatic to be out on the ice again, and in the second period, with 5:25 remaining, he did what he was waiting almost a year to do. He came down the ice, faked out a defender, and shot the puck in the top right corner. “GOAL! In Thomas Laflamme’s first game back since his knee surgery last November, he scores an amazing goal! He’s still got it, watch out NHL, he’s coming for you.” And next June, that’s exactly what he did. In Buffalo, he was drafted 8th overall to the Buffalo Sabres, and he finally accomplished his goal of being an NHL player. “What’s next?” a reporter asked him after being drafted. He replied saying “My goal is to be the best player in the league, and with my injury last year, I know how much heart it’s going to take to be
Its “Hockey time” as the players get ready to hit the ice -the suspense builds. Once the players hit the ice the crowd yells “Let’s go belleville!” As the referee drops the puck and it hits the ice the action begins. You see the other team trying to pressure the puck your way. Then number 87 Tyler Connolly steals the puck and takes it down towards the opposing team to where he passes it to number 11 Dylan Connolly passes it back to the middle for number 87 Tyler Connolly to slap the shot it into the goal. It’s now 5 to 5 they just need two more points to go to victory, as the puck hits the ground the crowd goes wild, when the opposing team takes the puck and heads down the ice towards the goal where number 52 Evan Johnson is waiting to save the puck from going in. As number 32 from the opposing team comes in hard,
As a young three year old Nick Fornelius steps out onto the ice in his skates that are little too big for him, he immediately falls flat on his butt leaving an echo sounding throughout the entire rink. With a single tear rolling down his cheek he looks up at his dad who is standing beside him and says, “We’re not leaving here till I can skate!” Although the obstacles in Nick’s life on the ice have changed the emotion of that phrase still emulates from his entire being when he enters the rink. Even now in his college hockey career this childhood quote describes Nick perfectly.
Hockey. How bad is it to be a heartless player? The dilemma with Eric is that he feels a flaming fire in him but he can’t even explain it to anybody. He can’t even explain it to his parents that really like watching him play. Chris Lynch’s IceMan offers insight on Eric’s experience with hockey and how it shaped his life and just generally made him who he is. Eric is 14 years old. He is an average hockey player on his team. He talks about the games he had played and what he thought about how they went, and how he felt during the game. After reading the story Iceman by Chris Lynch it gave me a lot of thoughts about how to act in distinctive situations. I don’t recommend this text to everybody because it is predominantly about hockey. This fiction
The state tournament was next week it was the biggest tournament of the year. They had practice every day for two hours up till the tournament. Their first game was on Thursday at 12 pm so they had to get out of school early for it. They played a really good team from the south called the kings. It was going to be a fight if they wanted to win this one. Thursday had came and the team was ready for the game. The Hawks scored just 30 seconds into the game. Frank cheered from the bench. The Kings answered right back making it 1-1 after the first period. There coach came into their locker room furious and said the team could do better. The second under way and the Kings lead 2-1. The Hawks take a time out and answer back making it 2-2. Frank still has not played but he encourages his teammates on the bench. There were five minutes left in the third period and it is all tied up 3-3. The clock was winding down and one of Frank's teammate Cody scores with just a minute left making it 4-3. The hawks win and advance to the semifinals tomorrow against the
The Blackhawks’ leading scorer, Kane, was immediately rushed out of the game first period, after becoming a victim to Alex Petrovic’s cross-check. This push, happening with 2:11 left on the clock, caused Kane to lose his balance and awkwardly collide with the boards in the offensive zone. His upper body was first to receive the brunt. As a result, Petrovic’s shove cost his own team a two minute penalty and somewhat of a blooming advantage for eliminating Kane. The game after Kane’s removal was commensurate; the two points that both teams desperately needed could have gone to either team and did.
The opposition scored the first goal and we were slightly disheartened. But then Joshua McNack from our team aided in the score of an own goal on the Culver’s team’s part, and our side of the field erupted in celebration. In the second half the Culver’s were determined to score more goals and shot many shots on target, but unfortunately for them none of them were successful, thanks to our amazing goalie Braxton. Although the game turned out to be a tie, it was a really close game and there were some very good goal shot attempts. After the game, we interviewed the scorer of our goals, Joshua McNack. We asked him what he felt like when he thought that he missed the goal, but ended up scoring, and he responded “I wasn’t satisfied, but i was glad
Freezing in the morning, the grassy fields at the Uihlein soccer complex were let off a cracking every step. The excitement of playing in my first ever varsity lacrosse game kept me hyped up on the day of its arrival. Grinning widely, wearing sapphire blue, I strutted to the bench for our team, Brookfield Lacrosse. As the tournament was preparing to start, the sound of Eminem’s music played through the speakers and parents chattered in the stands before the first game between Arrowhead and my team. All that was running through my mind at the time was, “Don’t underperform. Make a statement to the coaches.”
Now let us take our binoculars and watch as Evan’s life goes on, but I will have to warn you now, something dreadful awaits. Consider Evan age 6; it’s his first pee-wee soccer tournament and him and his teammates are running with the ball, making their way down the field to the goal. They needed this last point to place in the top three teams and the sweat breaks down Evans back. As he runs, he manages to keep the ball away from some competitors until he was at the perfect angle where he could kick with all his might, and he did. The next moment was a blur due to the cheering from the other team. Evan had missed the goal. As the other team cheered and ran back to celebrate, he walked somberly back to his parents, who then comforted him. He
Today our game was against the Grand Valley Stars, And they were the visitors. Last time we played them we lost 4-2 but I was determined to beat them today. The whistle blew, we all line up at our positions in the middle of the ice. Before the ref drops the puck he gives a signal to the two goalies to see if they were ready, and sure enough they were. The puck dropped, and the two centers were fighting for it like two gorillas. The away team came up with a way to get it
It was the first day of tryouts, and I could feel my stomach knotting up, as I got dressed alone in the locker room. I could hear the shouting of thirty, twelve-year-old boys in the locker room next to mine, and a heavy ball formed in my throat as my eyes began to tear up from the fear and anxiety of tryouts building up all at once. I was twelve-years-old heading into my first day of tryouts for the Edina boys Peewee hockey team, what would have been my first day of tryouts for the Edina girl’s U12 hockey team if my dad hadn’t forced me to leave behind what had been my worst year in girls hockey just the previous year. In the Edina youth hockey association, by rules, you must go through two years of U10s and then two years of U12 and so on
The day I was made was nice and sunny, probably. I wouldn’t know because the time I was in the world there was chaos. I originated in the oven of a nice house. There was a black circular object that I think was supposed to be a pizza. There wasn’t a good view of the house from the oven, so I decided to move to the rest of the kitchen. The feeling of this world was remarkable but overwhelming. I needed more. I must consume it all. I engulfed the whole kitchen, embracing the power I have over this world. This power isn’t enough though. I spread to the rest of the house, where I see a girl. She was asleep, I must not be intimidating enough. I will see her scream before the end of her lousy life. I was about to wake her, but she woke up on her
It was the week before the hockey finals, everyone was practicing as hard as they could at their houses. The reason is it's their first final in two years. Their opponent has the player that brought their team to victory every year. He left because he thought the couldn’t do anything by themselves. Now they have three players they never met and they aren't that good. Except Mike. He was the best on the team and half the players don’t know his name!
As a result of the accident, Mr. Savino lost 80% of the vision in his right eye. Mr. Savino decided to file a negligence suit against Mr. Robertson. He alleged that Mr. Robertson violated the league rules by shooting the puck at the goal without a goalie being present in the goal and warning everyone that he was going to shoot the puck at the goal. Mr. Savino reported that this was an established rule for the Northbrook Men’s Summer League which is the league that their hockey team belonged to.
The man took a step back from Lovienthal and paused as he took a moment to look over the card. He then looked back up at Lovienthal and began to chuckle. “You've got to be kidding, right? This is some fucking joke, right?” he asked smugly. “So, I guess you love dick, huh?” he asked Lovienthal as his laughter began bellowing out from deep inside him.
The blonde knows better than to become stiff at a question like this. Instead, she draws one of her hands onto the cold grey table and taps her fingers gently on the surface. While she brings her other hand to rest under her chin. Fleurette tries to think of a moment when she didn’t have a run in with the law. When faced with the danger of being imprisoned or fined, her water works would pave the way to victory. It was cliche to say the least, but behind her faux tears and her weak pleading, she put on a beautiful show. She was a temptress to the law and once they fell for her act, a gentle calming smile would form on her lips. Her face would read thank you, but her mind read you fool. You’re all fools. Clearing her throat she stopped her light drumming and brought both her hands to rest on the table together. “Non, non.
