Lacrosse is not just a sport nor a hobby; it is a way of life. Teammates are not just friends, they are family. To illustrate, lacrosse forms bonds just as strong as friendships and family. In my opinion, lacrosse is an encouraging, sublime sport that should be apart of everybody’s lives. First or all, I play lacrosse for many reasons. To begin, I am my team’s goalie, and will hopefully play goalie during my high school career. I played the field for two years (beginning in third grade), and goalie for three more, landing me here in my fifth year of lacrosse. I play to help my team, encourage them, tell them where an open player is, and most importantly, I play for my love of the sport and my teammates. Every year, I look forward to the season to

The goals often stretched miles apart and they were just a space between two trees that one tried to throw the ball through to score . There could be many types of terrain in a game from lush forests, to tall-grass covered fields, or even rolling hills. Lacrosse is a sport that was created by the Native Americans around the 1600s (5). The sport once known as stick ball to the Indians has evolved to a major sport across the world. Lacrosse was a sport that was a real major part of European culture before it made its way to America. It has just recently been picked up in the major ranks of colleges and even a professional level. So with the rise of this sport comes the rise of the preparatory phases to get ready for competition.

Lacrosse was started by the native Americans and was first known as stickball. These original lacrosse games were far different than those of today. Their games were major events and took place in fields ranging from 500 yards to several miles with up to 100 to 100,000 players. In modern lacrosse the field is only 120 yards long and there are 10 players on the field for each team. Lacrosse was first founded as a sport in 1856 by a Canadian dentist named Dr William George Beers.

Nellie Bly was an American journalist who is widely known for her record breaking trip around the world. She started with working for the Pittsburgh Dispatch, where she wrote about the lives of working women and investigated articles of women factory workers. Later on Nellie worked on my Asylum Exposé, where she took an undercover assignment for which she agreed to feign insanity to investigate reports of brutality and neglect at the Women’s Lunatic Asylum. Nellie’s report about the experience was later published as Ten days in a Madhouse, which prompted the asylum to implement reforms. Then she took her trip around the world. Bly turned the fictional Around the World in Eighty Days into fact for the first time.

Both Lacrosse and Ice hockey are two sports that share similar aspects. One example would be that they both require plenty of athletic prowess, as well as countless hours of training and practice to master. The high amount of contact in both sports enables a player to become both physically and mentally "tough". Lacrosse has grown to its highest level of popularity it has ever reached over the last ten years. Ice hockey has seen a steady climb in its popularity over the past 25 years making it one of the most popular sports in not only Long Island, but all across the U.S. However, there are many differences as well, and we should not overlook the fact that there are plenty of distinctions between the two

The sport that Native Americans are most famous for is Lacrosse. It was widely, and still is, commonly known throughout the Americas. While mostly found played near the Atlantic Seaboard and around the Great Lakes area, it was also played in the South, on the grasslands and plains in California, and in the Pacific Northwest. There were three different forms of Lacrosse based on the equipment that was used, the type of goal used, and stick handling techniques. These different forms could be found throughout many different tribes and tribal groups. The materials used in this sport were curved rackets, one ball, goal posts, and the players. The ball was generally made of either wood or buckskin. The rackets had a net on the end to hold the ball in place when running to score at the end of the field. Hundreds of players participated in this sport and often prizes were given out to the winners. “J.G Kohl declared Lacrosse to be the finest and grandest sport of all” (Native American Sports 1800-1860).

Lacrosse is one of the oldest sports in history, and it is interesting to see how the sport has changed since it was created.

Sport’s are an aspect of life that affect societies across the globe. Athletics affect everyone's life, whether that be playing the sport, watching games, or hearing about a sporting event. There is a big difference between playing an individual sport and players relying on their own athletic abilities versus a team sport when members of the team rely on their teammates to complete each individual's specific responsibility to reach the team's goal. Team sports bring people together in countless ways, and they teach many life skills for the athletes that participate in them. Some of these skills include communication, teamwork, discipline, work ethic, dedication, leadership, and numerous more that will help them in their personal and work

Plato was a Greek philosopher, mathematician, and theologian who lived from 424 BC to 348 BC in Athens, Greece. Plato was born into a high class family in Greece and therefore was very active in the Athenian community since he was from a high status family. He was the founder of the Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. He is known to be one of the best writers in the Western literary tradition and one of the most influential authors in the development of Western philosophy even today. Plato worked alongside his teacher, Socrates, and his student, Aristotle, laying the groundwork for Western philosophy and science through their collective work. Plato has also been considered one of the founders of western religion, especially Christianity, which Friedrich Nietzsche called “Platonism for the people” (Nietzsche, 2013). A lot of Plato’s philosophy focused on Christian ideals and aspects that are still used today in the Christian churches around the world. Plato was very involved in Athenian politics during his time and this was reflected in much of his philosophy, as he writes about different political questions from a philosophical perspective in dialogues such as The Republic.
