The piece I have created artistically represents different ways one should respond to a member of the LGBTQ community. Using watercolours, I abstractly painted a rainbow flag in the background because it is a common symbol of LGBTQ pride. Within the flag, in the center of the page, I drew the silhouettes of a gay and lesbian couple using ink pens and in between them, using acrylics, I painted a heart. My reasoning for using acrylics to do this one image is because I wanted it to be the first thing that catches the viewers eyes and spreads the message that above everything, being LGTBQ is about love and acceptance. Surrounding the image in the center, using ink pens, I drew hands reaching out to reflect how we should reach out and welcome them
My artwork that I chose is called “Mother and Children” by Nancy Spero , and its oil on canvas. In this art piece, you can see a figure who seems to be holding someone in their arms, and it captivates you and catches your attention because of the sheer display of emotions that you get while looking at it. When I went to the museum this is the first painting that caught my eye all because I could sense the feeling that the artist was trying to convey to her audience. To me, I feel that the artist is trying to say how a mother will protect her children and/or family at any cost, but also that there is a dark and painful past to what happens to women and children. The message I picked up from this artwork is that a mother will do anything for her family no matter the circumstances. When I was
Contemporary art refers to art being produced and celebrated within current living generations, however it is more than that to the artist, it is a means to interact and communicate with modern society in new and exciting ways. A majority of these artists want to challenge racial stereotypes, call in to question the strict dualistic quality of gender, question political leadership, remark on the brutalities of war and its lasting effects on society, and confront consumerist society, but above all else contemporary art ebbs at modern reality and pushes for societal changes. Artist seek to resolve these issues through their art and effectively use several reoccurring themes such as, identity, commodities, memory, place, body, and spirituality
Art has a powerful message in any way, shape, or form that it is presented in. I believe that it has the ability to unify its admirers despite their ethnicity, age, religion, or beliefs. This passion is adequate enough to band differences together. For example, a YouTuber that I am subscribed to, Casey Neistat, is a vlogger (someone who documents their everyday life through video), inspirational speaker, and somewhat of a comedian. However, on October 2nd of this year, his usual content adapted into something larger than life. He created a fundraiser in order to assist the victims of the Las Vegas shooting and expressed his sentiment on the tragedy. Neistat confers his range of emotions from anger, to grief, and ends with helplessness, but
Throughout our country’s history, there have been many minority groups who have fallen victim to oppression. For the purpose of this assignment, I will compare and contrast the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer (LGBTQQ) community, the disabled community, and the African American community. Also, listing historically significant events past and present that have shaped their experiences.
My illustrations will not directly show something inspirational or rebellious. I want them to symbolise change, peace, and tranquility through abstract, rebellion and quirk, yet be open to suggestion but also 'cool' enough to be worn for... well... no reason other than the illustrations looking good and I believe that I have achieved that based on the feedback that I have received through a survey which I will talk about
In Art Class, the class was learning about juxtaposition and the concept of using juxtaposition in artwork. We were told to right down three beliefs/ ideas that would be incorporated in our artwork. The task was to create artwork that contrasts two or three elements to bring attention to the similarities and differences. The three ideas that I incorporated were music, the ocean, and LGBT, which stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. The LGBT community gets a lot of discrimination so I wanted to show support. The art teacher gave us a lot of freedom; we were allowed to create a collage, painting, etc.
Then it proceeded as the high school parent and high school administrator to keep the people within the school system. After the high school related roles were finished, we decided our artist should step up and say something regarding pathos, and pride from their personal experience. We then finished with our community member and spokesperson, and finally the reporter to conclude our argument. This was a good approach because the lawyer would first represent our argument in a solid logos form. The high school members, including my role as the teacher, were next to add an emotional appeal and have a strong pathos argument. Concluding with our community roles to add some ethos and logos, but even still a little pathos as to how it affects them
My project responds to an offensive ad displaying a child as a sexual object. The ad I found had communicated this sense of pedophilia and that it is acceptable; However, I disagree with that idea. The message my artwork sends is that pedophilia is not okay. I started with generating ideas using a words web and asking random people around me what they thought of when they heard specific words. After I made the web I started to keep a list of any ideas that came to mind for my art project. The list started with a lot of ideas of how to include the symbols into my work and slowly started to become more specific and detailed. I started coming up with ideas such as dressing a teddy bear up as a sexual object and that be my piece and then I thought of the idea of using photography as my media.

The struggle is real for blacks. Things must suck even more for women. Shoot, think about how much life blows for gays. Now imagine being all three. For now, we’ll call this the good ole triple negative. Gay, black, and female are the least benefitted sexual identities, ethnicities, and genders. Benefits in this context refer to rights and privileges (equal pay and representation) in society compared to the opposite: straight white male. A big chuck of this is a result of our (me, identifying as a triple negative) position in society, unseen and when seen subordinate to our male counterparts. This invisibility isn’t by chance and if one looks hard enough, figuratively speaking, these absences become almost obvious. There is a clear downfall
My flag is 5 ft. by 4 ft. and made of very thin material. From top to bottom the colors go from red-purple in the same order as a rainbow. I got my flag when I went to my first Pride Festival in 2016. Since then I 've used it for some of my favorite senior photos! My absolute favorite senior photo is one of me in a blue Lexington Wildcats T-shirt and jeans and I 'm laying on top of my Pride flag with my head propped up on my hand. Now my flag hangs proudly above my TV until its time for my next Pride Festival. This flag is very important to me because I want my audience to know how far I 've come and how comfortable I am with who I am and what my sexual orientation is. I came out to the majority of my family and friends in 2015 around fall time. I went through a lot of stages where I felt bad about myself and who I was but through the support of my family and friends I was finally able to become comfortable with who I am. So to show this, I leave my flag hanging as a reminder that I 'm perfect just the way I am! The audience of this is also my friends, family, and even those in the LGBT community. I 'm lucky to have friends and family who are as supportive as anyone can be, so it makes them very happy to see my flag hanging when they come into my room. I would say that I 'm using both ethos and pathos in this, I 'm using pathos because my flag hanging evokes my audience to feel happy for me and how far I 've come since 2015. I also would say ethos, ethos is
My public art piece would be called the “Peace Tree”. The Peace Tree would be a symbol that reflects unity. With the growing number of fatal shootings by police officers, racial profiling, racial discrimination, and police brutality I think this idea of a Peace Tree with images of people of all races interacting with one another while committing acts of kindness would make people have a different outlook on the things going on in society today and realize not everything is about race. Hashtag black lives matter and hashtag all lives matter has become a very controversial topic in the media and news as the violence and killings of African Americans by white officers has nearly tripled this year. Hearing about the fatalities on the news everyone
The theme in my painting is the obstacles people face when trying to achieve a goal. The message my painting communicates is to be weary of the unseen dangers when attempting to reach an objective. My intention was for the viewer to see an image that seems simple but in reality contains a story that is up to the interpretation of whoever is looking at it. In my painting the seagulls are intended to represent a plan or a vision, the person on the boat is supposed to represent the person viewing the painting, the wind blowing the boat represents destiny, the animals and coconuts on the island represents wealth, the anchor represents doubt, the ocean represents life, the island represents success and the giant shark represents failure.

Civilization has set standards for certain norms, morals and measures for acceptable behaviors. Behaviors that stray from what is considered the normal is seen as abnormal. However, behavior that was once seen as abnormal may become acceptable. Social norms may occur within a certain time frame and therefore, change over time. Such as, until 1980, homosexuality was considered a psychological illness by the World Health Organization (WHO). As time progressed, homosexuality has become more acceptable amongst society and is known as the LGBTQ+ community today. Currently same sex marriages became legal and same sex adoptions are not considered atypical but are supported by many through support groups and organizations. The LGBTQ+ community may
