LDRSHIP, the seven army values. Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage are the seven values that the army has put in place that they find most important and want all of their members to follow. It’s a bit of a challenge for everyone, no one individual is perfect. But if we all do our best, that’s what matters. Everyone has difficult times and issues that not everyone else is going to understand. Loyalty is a very important thing. There are so many things that we can be loyal to. The army intends for us to be loyal to our country and our comrades in arms. But we there are so many other things that we should be loyal to. Selfless service is not caring about your own needs and thinking of someone else’s. It’s putting another person’s needs before your own. It’s leaving your home at eighteen to suit up and serve your country instead of sitting at home with a mediocre job making minimum wage living with mom and dad. It’s the man pushing a stranger out of the way of a car only to be hit himself. It’s caring more about your battle buddy surviving than yourself. It’s wanting to serve your country rather than working a nicely paid job where you’re comfortable. We leave everything that we know and what feels safe and comfortable to serve your country for millions of people who don’t have the guts or physical capabilities to do it themselves. It’s leaving your family to head off to a foreign strange and dangerous country to fight the enemy not knowing whether or not you will return. Integrity is the most important value that a person can have. Integrity is doing what’s right no matter how impossibly hard it seems. It’s standing up and telling the teacher that you cheated on the test that you earned a really good grade in. It’s being honest even when the consequences are terrifying. It’s not being deceptive and hiding things from others. It’s being true to yourself and what’s right. It’s telling someone about your comrade who’s having a bad time and considering taking their own life even though you know that person will be furious with you. It’s telling your family what you did and how you screwed up even if they’ll be disappointed in you. It’s accepting the consequences of your actions and being a responsible
