11. Analyze the data and explain which student in the class you would be most concerned about academically and why.
I would be most concerned about Kurt Incall. This is because Kurt does very well on the Word Studies. He has an average of 87.14% and normally earns a 90% or 100%. Kurt is not doing as well in the Reading Logs or Essays. In these categories, Kurt is earning, on average, a 68% to a 76%. Although these are passing grades and Kurt always turns in his assignments, the class average is at least, if not more, 10% higher than his scores. Also, Kurt has failed all three of his tests and has the lowest average in the class. This causes Kurt’s overall weighted average to be the lowest in the class.
I am concerned about Kurt because he is turning in his work and seems to understand the Word Studies. When it comes to the other grades, Kurt is not doing well. His performance also shows on his tests because it is clear Kurt does not understand the information or does not have the higher order thinking skills to apply the information he has learned.

Jonnie, a 10th grade African American male, was referred to me because he considering college as a next step in his education. He needs support in building his GPA and course mapping so that when he is ready to enter a comprehensive high school he is on track to complete graduation and college requirements. Working with Jonnie, the immediate goal is to have him pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). Throughout his academic career, Jonnie has had an inordinate number of disciplinary infractions put against him. His high school transcripts reflect the behavior problems that have had an effect on his ability to perform well in school. Currently, Jonnie is in a small school setting in which his academic abilities are being shown and fostered. Jonnie does not seem to exhibit many deficits when it comes to social-emotional relationships, however, it is evident in his work, that there are some academic gaps that need to be supported and scaffolded for him. When it comes to material that tends to be difficult for Jonnie, he withdraws himself from the class. Further examination of Jonnie’s behavior is necessary to better support his academic abilities and achieving his goal of attending college a reality.

What about the student as an individual (experiences, skills, interests) provides insight into his or her work samples and your analysis of them? In a class where most students either fall into the categories of being high achieving or low scoring, Kaylee is one of few students in the middle. Next year, students have the choice of going on the college track in language arts and I would like Kaylee to feel comfortable in her abilities to choose the college track. She feels that she is not good at reading and therefore, she needs to stay in regular language arts next year.

In the society of today, there are various educators who believe in assessment as proper method to measure the performance of a child in school as well as the overall achievement of a specific school system. The assessment may be presented in the form of verbal, written, or multiple choice, and it usually pertains to certain academic subjects in the school curriculum. Recently, many educators began to issue standardized tests to measure the intelligence of a common student body. (Rudner, 1989) These standardized tests were initially created to reveal the success in institutional school programs, and exhibit the abilities of students today. The standardized tests can reveal the strengths and weaknesses
We received a low grade notice for Miciah Quinn in 8A listing a grade of 52 for Alek 3 May 9-13. Miciah completed 19 topics and a knowledge exam during this week. I have confirmed with 2 other parents that the weekly requirement for Alek on this week was 10 topics due to testing as stated during your class period. Miciah has diligently been working on ALEKS per our conversation approximately two weeks ago during the tutoring session with you. She has put in over 16 hours completing a total of 46 topics and 2 knowledge tests exams to which I provided screens shots from her account. She pushed herself to put in the extra time on Alek for review purposes and to gain extra credit and of course this recent grade listing dampens her pursuit
Improved Assessment Literacy: Unlike the current education system that treats assessment more separated from teaching, the core teaching standards recognize that teachers need to have greater knowledge and skill on how to develop a number of assessments, how to balance use of formative and summative assessment as
The ability of a student to learn effectively and comprehend what they have learned depends on the interaction of multiple factors. These factors include the level of connectedness between the student and their teacher, the role of a parent in motivating the student to learn as well as the student’s own effort. For a sixth grader, who shows fluctuating classroom performance with better test performances but poor on homework, a partnership between the student, teacher and parents can be forged to improve the student’s performance. This would be done through data collection on their progress by observation, documenting, measuring and monitoring the data for implementation.
This research article was taken from the Association for Psychological Science (APS) Journal. This specific issue had a total of ten articles, and while they are covering different topics and studies, some of them do focus on similar ideas. Psychology is all about the study of the mind, and how it has different parts intended for unique functions. It seems like a good portion of the articles for this specific journal deal with emotions and how the body interprets them. One article deals with the stress of different generations, while another deals with an individual’s willpower against sugar. There is an article about self-esteem and how that varies during a lifetime, as well as an article on cooperation. The article that will be specifically discussed in this research paper also has to deal with how the body interprets things when it comes to a stressful situation, such as a crime. It looks at how reliable eyewitness testimony is after traumatic events, specifically in regards to lineups.
