“Go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path” is a Swedish proverb. This proverb means that one should make an effort to check up on their friends and always try. All people know they must talk to their friends to keep them. Or, try and help out to keep something working. Not much is known about the origin of this proverb even though it is popular. It is important to live by “go often to the house of a friend; for weeds soon choke up the unused path” which can be shown through Kitty Kallen, Beryl Grey, 11 Birthdays, and the United Way drive. Kitty Kallen shows this proverb because of her view on life, her determination to succeed, and her gratefulness of other people. People should check in on friends once in awhile. She was a very determined woman. Many people most likely looked up to her because of her achievements, “Grey, Beryl, a British ballet dancer, was prima ballerina of the Sadler’s Wells Ballet from 1942 until 1957.” (World Book) She also, like Kallen, tried and kept trying. This resulted in her becoming a very skilled dancer. In fact, she kept trying and achieved more. Grey went to lengths to complete feats, “In 1964, she became the first Western ballerina to dance with a Chinese ballet company.” (World Book) She further proves this proverb because she doesn’t stop trying. Therefore, he skills get better and don’t deplete. Really, this is another good way to explain this proverb. “She won praise for her performance of such roles as the Red Queen in Checkmate.” (World Book)When you go and attempt something, it’s best to keep up with it.
