In the Witch Of The Blackbird pond, Kit is loyal to herself and to the people in her life who affirm her identity.Kit was raised in the barbados by her grandfather who was a strong influence on Kit. Growing up with her grandfather, Kit grew up not knowing how to do chores.When Kit's grandfather passed Kit had to sell his belonging to pay for his debts.That left her no choice but to move to america to the only relatives that she knows.Kit remains loyal to herself and to the people that affirm her such as hannah, Nat, and the support the Wood family. Kit shows her loyalty to Hannah when the townspeople accuse Hannah of witchcraft and go capture her in the cottage. Kit sneaks out of the wood family's house to go help Hannah and help her get out of the cottage so she doesn't get hurt.Hannah —-- she’s in terrible trouble, Nat. Prudence didn't know how to read or write, but it was going to help her sense Prudence's mother didn't think that she was smart enough to go to school. But Kit believed in her so she brought a horn book to Hannah's house and Kit and Prudence would meet up there so that Kit could teach Prudence how to read and write. After a while, Prudence started going by herself. After the incident with Hannah during court, Prudence was told to go up to the court and write her name. Kit was trying to stick up for Prudence because she thought that the court was going to take Prudence. “Oh please sir!” she cried, the tears rushing down her face, “let them take her away! It is all my fault! I would do anything to undo it if I could! I never meant any harm, but I'm responsible for all of it. Please take me to Hartford (p.216). That tells us that kit didn't want Prudence to be harmed. This shows us that they didn't want to take Prudence “will you stand there child, in front of the table?”
