What does it mean to be all good or bad? Does it mean you can be born evil and cannot change no matter what? Or that someone can be all good and is unable of any malice? This idea is foolish, since everybody has a little bit of kindness and malice in their heart. The majority of people categorize someone as good or bad based on what actions they make. One great example of this statement is King John. Many remember him from The Tales of Robin Hood; A malign monarch that only cares for his selfish needs. Others remember him as a historical figure, who signed an important document, which is The Magna Carta Libertatum. In history, it shows that he, indeed, was a brutal ruler in the early 1200s. But while the people saw him as a coward, he truly took the lives of his subjects into great consideration, and avoided needless bloodshed. That’s why many battles he refuse to particapte, knowing that he would lose. A Good King should considered his people and not what he gains. In the other hand, King John did lose a lot of land.

Another of these reasons is the infamous fact that he overturned the Magna Carta. However, what most people do not know is that the Magna Carta of modern times is not the same as the one he overturned. The original Magna Carta was a flawed set of laws meant to empower a faction of barons that wanted to seize power. This would essentially render the Monarch invalid and null, reduced to a phantom. Most monarch in their right mind would not agree to such terms, and as such would overturn it.
