I agree with this statement and would go on to claim that globalization is a group of processes and events, some beneficial and some harmful, that have resulted in the spread of networks across the world. However, this spread of networks did not happen over night. This is in part because not all interactions are transformed into networks, as these require a certain degree of longevity. Globalization is the process by which different societies and cultures integrate through a worldwide network of political ideas through transportation, communication, and trade. Generally, globalization has affected many nations in various ways; economically, politically, and socially. It is a term that refers to the fast integration and interdependence of various nations, which shapes the world affairs on a global level. Simply put; globalization is the world coming together. In this essay I will discuss multiple perspectives on globalization through the analysis of these three sources.

In present-day society, families go through several problems and arguments regarding numerous issues which would have been considered unacceptable in past times. Throughout a variety of different cultures, the level of respect and obedience for one’s parents has diminished while the negotiation of conformity and rebellion has risen. There is not clear when Globalization starts, but some people believe that it begins with the end of the Cold War and the separation of the Soviet Union, others along with the arrival of man on the moon or with the development of telecommunications. As a matter of fact, Globalization is not always a synonymous of progress; however, the process of people’s interaction and their desire of succeed along with the development of technology and communications have created a globalized World. Although, the term globalization is recently used in “the New Economy” to study variations in world politics and economies, it has a broad interpretation. The most common meaning define Globalization as the tendency to reach a world dimension or surpass national borders. In either case, the globalization has evolved thought the last 50 years and it has positives and negatives effects reflected on economy, environment and human rights.

In today’s world, with a few notable exceptions, nearly everyone in every region of the world has access to the same products, information and services. A long-distance relationship is no longer so distant, since each party involved in the relationship can communicate through Skype, Facebook or through any of the vast amount of social media available. A person in Easter Island, one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world, can go to the other side of the world and travel to Canada. An economic crisis in Argentina could affect the economic landscape in Brazil. A person in Chile or Peru can buy an Abercrombie and Fitch t-shirt because this transnational corporation decided to expand its market to developing countries, or as you might prefer, to emerging economies in South America. Although many of these examples might be trivial, these are the consequences of globalization.

Families are designed to care for and protect each other as life is experienced. No family is the same therefore each family’s structure will experience different issues along the way. Each family unit depending on lifestyle, social status, or ethnic background; amongst other things will be the foundation of interaction and reaction to social issues. Society has played a major role in to influencing the thoughts and opinions of individuals. In some aspects society has set a standard of what should and what should not be. Society depicts what is accepted and what is not. This alone can cause families to feel defeated and lose hope due to the negative views of what society as depicted as being appropriate. Every family is not able to fit into the status quo and it is unfair that families continue to fight for issues and continue to be unheard. This is why advocacy and community education is important for families who feel helpless.
