As an underclassman, I focused on my schoolwork in order to obtain the goal of joining National Honor Society my junior year. Being a member of NHS has instilled in my values that I intend to employ. The four pillars--scholarship, leadership, character, and service--have shaped my high school development in a positive manner, and I plan to apply these pillars to my future goals and overall life. The four pillars of NHS have greatly shaped my life choices and development.

Communication is a process of transferring information from one person or from a group of people to the other. Communication can also be defined as a way and form of passing or receiving a message. People communicate to express or share a concern and allow the passing of message. By not communicating can limit the people’s ability to connect with each other. For instance care worker to care users and other professionals in the care setting environment. People communicate so that they can understand the needs of others and it ensures ways of building trust and resolving conflicts. Communication is a two way process that enables sharing of experience.
The pillars of National Honor Society, scholarship, leadership, service and character, are the foundation upon which each chapter and its’ members strive to better their community and school. Service is what creates the National Honor Society, the actions of one done in order to help others or the community without any monetary or material compensation. Scholarship, the commitment and desire to learn; leadership, the initiative to take action in order to create results for a group of individuals; and character, the distinction that sets an individual apart from others, are the defining criteria of members. These four pillars have been quite evident in my growth and desires for the future. Throughout my education, I have found that it has been

Joining the National Honor Society will provide me with the skills to apply myself towards helping the community of Manassas Park. As a junior, I wish to challenge myself towards furthering my ambitions. Contributing to NHS would allow me to bring my skills from volunteering and my experience job shadowing and use them to help the community of Manassas Park. Volunteering and job shadowing has helped me feel a greater sense of pride and identity towards myself. As a determined, respectable student , joining NHS will allow myself to grow and contribute to my community. Finally, NHS would benefit from my calm, dependable attitude and I am thankful for the opportunity to be included in this distinguished organization.
The National Honor Society (NHS) is a longstanding nationwide organization that provides students, such as myself, an opportunity to be recognized for their outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. The organization allows for students to excel outside of the classroom through many activities. It provides students, actively involved in the NHS, an opportunity to positively affect the lives of others through the various community service activities that are organized throughout the school year. The NHS will also function as an outlet to network with my fellow peers and teachers who are like-minded in the pursuit of success.

Everyday, countless amounts of people are working hard, trying to change the world for the better. They are researching cures for cancer or taking twelve hour shifts to help keep oceans clean. There are people who are working towards a better world, and making life safe for the children in need, the animals in danger, and the men fighting for our country. Seeing these changes happen has motivated me to want to be a part of these developments. I wish to serve those around me, and believe that if I can have a positive impact on my community, it can affect the rest of the world. Therefore, I have made it my goal to be a part of the National Honor Society, in hopes that I can help my school, Middleville, and all who have impacted me. I believe that I represent the characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and hope to use these qualities so that others may benefit.
Lexi Herrick would describe her high school experience as involved and inclusive. “I was allowed the opportunity to stand out and try a bunch of different things, which I think empowers you when you get to college and to the career force. A lot of times you have to pick one niche or one part of yourself to really hone into, but I think the high school experience at Hanover makes you more diverse.”
The National Honors Society has four necessary qualities, that if done correctly are the pillars of success. Scholastic accomplishments shows how involved in learning a person is. Those that are more involved often have more accomplishments. Everyone has strengths in their personality. Those strengths makes a person unique and helps them become a contributing never of society. National Honors Society is a group of community leaders that bring out the best of others in their community. Helping others is an important aspect because in order to be a good leader, it is necessary to help others. I believe I am an exceptional candidate for membership due to my academic accomplishments from childhood to modernity, my personality that includes empathy, creativity, and belief nothing is impossible; my leadership skills shown through directing, and helping the community through reaching out to the next generations.
