Sherry Turkle, a professor and director of the MIT Initiative on Technology and Self, wrote an essay called “No Need To Call” to talk about her research on cell phones and social life. She goes in depth into a few lives of those who use their cell phones frequently and those who avoid it. Turkle starts off her essay by talking about Elaine, a seventeen year old. Elaine acknowledges the use of texting within her generation, she states “It’s only on the screen that shy people open up.” (373). Elaine then follows this by speaking of the ability to pause and think before you send a message. You have more time to think before you say something, unlike in person or on the phone. Turkle then reflects on this teen’s analysis, she says, “Elaine is right in her analysis: teenagers flee the telephone. Perhaps more surprisingly, so do adults.” (374).
Abraham lives is West Point and was born April 24th 1998 to Mr.Keita and Manifing Kamre during Liberia’s brutal civil war. Abraham's dad died when Abraham was five years old while working for a driver. What blows my mind is he started fighting for child abuse at age nine. He wanted to be like his dad and still does today, and he knows his dad would be really proud of him, as well as his mom who is a great supporter to him - now his dad is his inspiration to help and protect kids. He got furious when someone shot an innocent fifteen year old kid for no reason in town while taking part in one of Abraham's peaceful protests, also when a thirteen year old girl was sexually abused and murdered by her foster
Last time I described to you the city I currently live in, L’Aquila, Italy, a province in the Abruzzo region, by telling you about its history, my family, and my university. This time I would like to share with you the geography, climate, and details of my family’s home. Geographically L’Aquila sits upon a hillside in the middle of a narrow valley called the Valley of the Aterno-Pescara. It is positioned in a way that makes it close to highest Apennine summits, with an elevation of 2,365 feet. Because of the city being flanked by four mountain summits the warm, dry winds of the Mediterranean get blocked and cause L’Aquila to be very cool in comparison to central Italy. Like California, L’Aquila is also known for having many earthquakes. Throughout its history L’Aquila experienced eleven earthquakes, with each

Whenever people congregate, the action they do is stare on the phones. In other words, Audrey is trying to express her feeling that how the cell phone has estranged her and her mother. From these, we can tell that how technology has been a “drug” that keeps us from interacting with each
