It was a warmer day than most thus far into the season, I thought as I stood on the porch of our two story ranch house looking up; watching the rolling skies for any hint of unpleasant weather to come. One …show more content…
She had been blessed with long, silky, blonde hair and cobalt blue eyes. I loved her eyes. They were the same color as our father’s, and with him gone, I often felt as though Kayla was my only way to hold on the a small glimpse of him I still had in my life. Our father had died when Kayla had only just turned four, so she didn’t have the memories of him that I did, and I knew she envied me for it. She was too sweet to ever treat someone with animosity, even if they deserved it, as I felt I probably often did. I was the fiery sister, the one with stubbornness leaking from every pore. I was the one who held grudges, and made sarcastic comments. She, in turn, was quick to forgive and offer favors. I envied her, this. I simply hadn't the patience to deal with all the backbiting falsies of the world. As I stood there, thinking these thoughts, she drew away from the door of her room, coming instead, to the door of mine. She leaned quietly against the door frame, simply watching me as I reached for my boots. She was a quiet one, my sister, always observing, taking the measure of everyone she crossed. I wondered what she was thinking now, with her watchful eyes gazing at me with thoughtfulness. Finally, after a moment or two she spoke. “ Are you ok, T? I heard your argument with mom.” I quickly looked up at her from where I sat on the bed, pulling on my brown and turquoise boots. Mom and I had been arguing about Kayla’s medicine. I hadn't known she could hear us, talking in low, fierce voices in the
The reporter stated she’s the child’s step mother’s grandmother and she’s making this report based on the allegations Kayla has told her. According to the reporter, on 12/03/15 Kayla became sick at school and ran a temperature of 102. The reporter stated that the school office called Ms. Lemarshall three times but was unable to make contact. Ms. Crawford stated Sarah’s father was reached and came to pick her up, but because of a work emergency, Mrs. Smith picked the child up from her father. The reporter stated after Mrs. Smith picked the child up from her father, she took her to receive medical treatment. While at the doctor’s office, Mrs. Smith called Sarah’s mother to let her know what was going on and Ms. Lemarshall became upset and told

Please read the case study below and write a paragraph describing possible strategies that can be used to support Kayla during instruction.
“Someone once asked me how I hold my head high after all i've been through I said, it's because no matter what, I am a survivor. Not a victim” a quote by Patricia Buckley. Many hurdles can come at someone in today's world, many of these challenges can be frustrating. A true survivor is extremely motivated, towards anything that comes at them. To be able to survive, one must be able to work hard to shut down their fears.
Hi could I please have an iced skinny cinnamon dolce latte with coconut milk please? My name is Courtney Travaglini, currently I'm in my cold home state of Maine. However you are about to learn is not my "home" anymore. My husband and I are stationed in North Carolina and have been there for the past two years. Thanks to Starbucks transfer program and love of the military I was able to transfer back to Maine during my husbands deployment.
I have had many great mentors that have stood out in my life thus far, but I have one lady that really stands out. Her name is Tina; I know her better as Ms. Hicks. She is a kindergarten teacher and Glee Club director at the middle school I attended. I came to know her really well when I joined the Glee Club my sixth grade year. She is so selfless and always puts others before herself. I just began watching her one day and realized that I wanted to be just like her. I began to volunteer in her classroom the last period of the day because I want to be an elementary school teacher as well. I decided why not learn form the best. Throughout the year, I learned so much from her. She taught me that students can learn and have fun while they
After checking on dinner Katt calls for KeVonna. the youngest of the girls however she was 9 years older than Kyngston the baby boy. Happy to be called away from her sisters bickering over who helped the most in the house. Knowing She never could seriously argue on her own behalf. "Yeah momma!" she gleamed as she looked at the food being prepared. her large eyes smiling with excitement. under a huge messy bun of curly hair were plump cheeks on a round face helped convey a youthful look of innocence. She was skilled at using it o her advantage as Katt found it difficult to look at her and stay angry. KeVonna having to always say what's on her mind without thinking usually got away with it. actually everyone let her get away with a lot of things.
Our strongest teaching remains equally committed to the content we develop and the minds and hearts we nurture. We recognize that the students we work with are continuosly constructing their understanding of themselves and of the world around them. This workshop invites participants to reflect on their own practice as progressive educators. We will share powerful and practical tools to foster a classroom community infused with honesty, transparency, mindfulness, and activism.
Imagine having a disease, but not know about it for years. This was the case of Kayla, the individual that I interviewed for this research. Kayla has Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) also known as the Armenian disease since 1 in 5 Armenians possess the gene for this disease. Discovered in 1997, FMF is a hereditary inflammatory disorder that produces physical pain in which affect individuals differently (Fisher et al). In Kayla’s case, she gets joint pain and has abdominal inflammation that induces severe pain lasting three to four days. These symptoms are not concurrent with one another, however they both have influence her behavior and choices throughout life.

Freshman Ella. It’s a scary thought, but for this story we have to go back to March of my freshman year at an event called Chamber Festival, which is basically when you play in small groups instead of large orchestras. In our school orchestra I was second chair viola which, me only being a freshman, was a very big deal. At least it was for me. Many of my other friends in orchestra already had their own instruments, and I felt like it was time to get one of my own. So for months I begged my parents. I insisted that I wouldn’t give up playing in a year or two, that I really would stick with it long enough for the investment to make sense. Finally, in the beginning of 2015, they agreed to get me a viola. Now was the hard part, agreeing
"Junior year is the year you find out who you really are." That's what I have heard from previous juniors in my two years of high school. I had started to believe they were right but didn't want to settle with it until it happened to me. I have been friends with Ally since we were pre-school age. We had briefly lost touch for the past few years but began to reconnect once we had more classes together. After her first day of softball practice, Ally came to me and said, "Kelsey, the new girl on the softball team, is just so annoying. Like, I can't stand her."
?She [step-sister] liked to dress me up and curl my hair, but as I got older, I resisted. I was an active grubby kid. I didn?t want to wear dresses. I didn?t like dolls. I liked to play outside, wear an oversize Orange Crush hat, and do whatever Marcus was doing something athletic. If he ran, I ran. If he played baseball, I played baseball. If he rode his skateboard, I wanted to ride his skateboard-not mine, his, because mine was hot pink and girly (Solo: Memoir of Hope 11).?
It was a beautiful day on Lake Erie with the lake’s misty wind sprinkling on my face as we drove out to the middle of the water to anchor. I was with my immediate family, my Aunt Ronni, Uncle Tim, and cousins from both sides of the family. All 10 of us were on my mom and dad’s boat, having fun swimming in the cool water and having the sun’s rays make our skin have a sun-kissed glow. All of the cousins were divided into two groups: the younger kid including my sister Josie and my two cousins Sadie and Hailey, and the older kids consisting of me and my cousins Kendall and Casey. Both groups were jumping in three at a time until we noticed Hailey, the youngest out of all the cousins, was refusing to jump in.
“Dad, can I go over to Ambers’ house to study tomorrow?” Our daughter Catherine asked the question, from about halfway up the stairs. Only her face could be seen as she peered at my husband hopefully, over the banister. I looked over at my husband, knowing what he would say, before he spoke. “Ask your mom.” My husband said to her, while glancing at me, expectantly. I smiled at him, knowing why he was telling her to ask me. He had worked all week, making the long drive from our home in Ashland to his office in Richmond and was hoping I would drive her to her friend’s house, so he could relax at home. My daughters’ hopeful gaze turned toward me, as well. “Madre?” She didn’t bother repeating the question. I hid the little sting of pain, that I always felt when she called me that, behind a smile. “What time are you supposed to be there, and do I need to bring you over and pick you up as well?” She nodded as she answered me. “Yeah, her mom can’t do it today, but I told her I would help her with her math.” Catherine had always made high marks in her school studies; it was something I was exceedingly proud of. “Yes, I’ll drive you, but make sure your phone is fully charged.” I have always been protective of the kids, and it was a long standing rule that they didn’t leave the house without a way to contact me. “I will.” She called out as she went the rest of the way up the stairs, disappearing from my view.
