Cassie Dawin Campbell was born on November 22, 1973 in Richmond hill, Ontario, Canada. In the early 1990’s she was a defensemen in hockey and was the captain for the University of Guelph’s team. During the time that Cassie played for this team she took them to a collegiate championship in 1995. She was also a member of the Canadian women’s national ice hockey team, and played for both teams respectively at the same time. She won her first international gold medal at the World Championships in 1994, and after she graduated university with a degree in sociology, she won her second gold medal at the 1997 World Championships.

Sarah Merryman spent the first fourteen years of her life in Long Island, New York. After moving to West Lafayette, Indiana in 2010, she underwent the challenge of adapting to the American Midwest. In the process forming a new life, she experienced several new adventures such as playing third-baseman on the girls’ softball team. After spending a gap year following high school graduation, Sarah entered the world of higher education by enrolling in Ivy Tech Community College with the intent of earning an associates degree in liberal arts. Pleasantly surprised that she survived her first year of college, Sarah has spent her second year at Ivy Tech taking advantage of every leadership opportunity available on campus. I don’t know why, but somehow the image of the white sands between her toes, the large palm trees hanging overhead, the cool ocean breeze, the whole tropical dream, always manages to make a smile on her face. This paradise, I imagine, must be the complete opposite at home, what with being the middle child of a younger brother, Jonathan, and an older step brother, Chandlier, two cats, two dogs, a bunny, and two tropical animals called sugar gliders.
