Frederick Engels, a colleague of Karl Marx, believed that machinery will replace humans and steal their labor. Consequently, he believed that the way production is occurring will inevitably create cycles in the economy where there are highs and lows, booms and busts, which are even seen today. Businesses will hire many employers where they then create a surplus of goods. Afterwards, businesses will attempt to get rid of its employers, resulting in many people without a job and a surplus of goods. Because there is not enough workers to earn money, they cannot buy the goods that they produced themselves. For example, the Industrial Revolution was a source for many technological advancements such as the railroad, trains, and other machinery that replaced human labor. Yet, in a capitalist society, private businesses, or the bourgeoisie, would monopolize the new advancements to make a profit and also restrict the general public from owning it. The working class, or proletariats, must then constantly work hours on end to make a living. This class separation is another defining aspect of capitalism. Fast forward to today, many people have their own technologies such as phones, cars, TVs, and so on. Capitalism essentially relies on a supply and demand system, yet, with supplies of a resource or good becoming universal, private owners will not be able to monopolize the resource and making a profit will become impossible. With all the new inventions today, the ease of sharing information and ideas throughout the world has become second nature to humans. The internet, a great example of how technology has advanced, allows people from all over the world to search and upload information, allowing others to view it and inspire ideas in some individuals. One aspect of society, such as the transportation area, allows us all to move from one location to another in a timely manner. With the invention of cars, every individual is able to travel a lot faster than someone would living in the 1800s. Vehicles are then constantly upgraded, with companies developing solar powered cars, self-driving vehicles, and utilizing clean energy to mitigate air pollution. All of these concepts allow people to live an easier life as they will be able to relax while the car drives itself and worrying about fuel will diminish as a result of the car converting solar energy as its fuel source. Air and sea transportation is also continuing to evolve to ensure a safer, faster, and more relaxing experience when traveling between destinations. The bullet train, for example, has been a project in California for some time now and has very promising benefits. It will allow travel between major cities in CA, such as San Francisco to LA, in a shorter time, run on electricity to prevent greenhouse gases, and prompt economic growth with the creation of new job
