Effective Leader Essay Before his birth Kamehameha’s mother craved the tiger shark’s eye. This was an evil omen that was going to make chief’s blood run down like streams. Eventually the omen was ignored and Kamehameha has been training until adulthood with his strength he went to war with the help of two foreigners. With them he won every battle against rival chiefs. Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was giving governors of the island more land. This act of giving land to other governors of the land was to earn their trust and loyalty. This example is something that stayed the same. This was the same because every chief that served kamehameha always got rewarded for doing good deeds. Lot Kapuaiwa Kalanimakua Ali'iolani Kalani Kapuapaikalaninui, otherwise known and more easily pronounced as King Kamehameha V, was one of the most administratively prepared kings to rule Hawaii. One of his best known accomplishments was perhaps his decision not to uphold the 1852 constitution, but instead to write a new constitution entirely. This was the constitution of 1864 He had a royal birth, and a successful reign, until he tragically died at age 42.
The Great Mahele was a land redistribution by Kamehameha III because when the foreigners that came, they wanted the land, but Kamehameha III also wanted to give his people land into three even thirds (Cachola). The Great Mahele was unjustified because three main reasons like Hawaiians not getting the land, Hawaiians not understanding the system, and people started to only care for their own.

Although most chiefs would not participate in public works, Kamehameha worked on rebuilding war torn land in knee deep mud of a taro patch. He had joined the other workers in fixing the land in his own will. This was something that changed after unification because as stated earlier, a chief participating in public work is a sight you don’t see often. In the War of 1812, he lead the American fleet to victory on Lake Erie. One of his roles was an attack on the British and Tecumseh’s confederacy. This attack, lead by Harrison, caused the British forces to retreat. After Kamehameha unified the island he rewarded his loyal followers making them chiefs and letting them rule the land. During this time the chief was the manager of the land and that was a title one received as a birthright.But this start to change with Kamehameha the III and the great Mahele. AIII divided the into two separate categories with act 1850. It’s divided by between the chiefs and the commoners. In order for chiefs or commoners to receive a portion of the land,they needed to prove that they actually cultivated farmed those lands for a living.
When Kamehameha was young there was a prophecy where Kamehameha killed all the ali’i of the Hawaiian Islands, and that Kamehameha would be the ruler. Eventually Isaac Davis dies because he finds out that someone is plotting against them so he tries to do something about it, but instead he get’s killed by them. Indeed Kamehameha was an effective leader, but he did change some of his normal routines, along with keeping some routines the same.
