Some of those challenges still impact our society today. To make up for what the Canadian government has done in the past, Justin Trudeau is giving Indians money which is coming out of our taxes. Doing this shows responsibility and recognition of the things that were intended to do good, but instead ended up ruining a culture. We have given back their land rights as well. Where us Canadians need to draw for tags in order to fish or hunt, Aboriginal People are allowed to take as much as they want, wherever they want because it is part of their culture and survival. When Canadians want to go to post secondary school, we have to pay thousands of dollars. Whereas Aboriginals get a huge portion of their of their education subsidized. The Canadian

This essay will evaluate Harper’s failed strategic manipulation of Canada’s political and electoral institutions. First, the effects of the concentration of power vested in the executive under the parliamentary system will be assessed. Next Canada’s first-past-the-post voting institution will be analyzed using the 2011 and 2015 election in that in the former it allowed for Harper to win, however when using it as precedent it contributed to the Conservative failure. Finally, the 2015 election will be evaluated under a proportional representation system. Despite Conservative
In recent news headlines, the Liberal Party of Canada headed by Justin Trudeau have discussed very tangible stimulants for our economy. Through continued downward spiral of our economy by the conservative government in past years, we can see that it is no easy task and therefore drastic measures are necessary for success. $125 billion dollars drastic. The old saying you need to spend money to make money needs to be looked at. The economy needs money in it to stimulate growth. In the CBC news article "Justin Trudeau says Liberals plan 3 years of deficits to push infrastructure" which can be found at http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-election-2015-liberals-infrastructure-deficits-1.3205535, Trudeau outlines plans to spend $125 billion on
Politicians from all three prairie provinces continue to push for assimilation of Indians and Metis, believing it to be the “ultimate solution” to fadeout reserves that would see the treaty rights ended. This would also allow the federal government to discontinue its separate programs for status Indian people. Pierre Trudeau and his Liberal government released its “White Paper,” which proposed more complete integration of Indian people that would see an end to Indian status. Indian organizations counteract with their own “Red Paper,” which they wanted to maintain their relation with the federal government and the Queen. They also wanted to preserve the treaties and the Indian Act’s protection of the special status of Indian people. This frustrated

It is inarguable that people are talking about Canada since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau assumed office just a few months ago. In just over four months, the media-friendly, question-taking and selfies-giving Trudeau has managed to seemingly make Canada cool on the world stage, using the increased spotlight to highlight the merits of diplomacy and engagement, including on issues such as climate change, respect for diversity and human rights and international peace.

Since the colonization of Canada First Nations people have been discriminated against and assimilated into the new culture of Canada through policies created by the government. Policies created had the intentions of improving the Aboriginal people’s standard of living and increasing their opportunities. Mainly in the past hundred years in Canadian Society, policies and government implemented actions such as; Residential schools, the Indian Act, and reserve systems have resulted in extinguishing native culture, teachings, and pride. Policies towards the treatment of Aboriginal Canadians has decreased their opportunities and standard of living because of policies specified previously (Residential schools, the Indian Act, and reservation systems).
The history of Canada is the era of where colonization all began towards aboriginal peoples. Over the past decades, aboriginal peoples have been mistreated and misused by the white-Europeans. They have been oppressed by Canadian society that we are known still by today and continue to live under racism resulting in gender and class oppression. The history of colonialism has been playing a big part in the way of how aboriginal people have been constructed and impacted on how aboriginal people are treated and viewed in Canadian Society. They have been dealing with the struggles, inequality, and discrimination that we have been putting them through for over three centuries, we’ve been also failing them with Canada’s racist policies
Regarding the assimilation of Aboriginals into Canadian society looking back and seeing the events which have occurred we can see that it was a destructive process for the Aboriginal people inhabiting Canada. Aboriginal children as late as the 1870’s were forcibly taken from their homes without the consent of their families and put in Canadian schools in an effort to integrate them and make them contributing members of society. The process in which the Canadian government did this is a controversial one as the government had displayed a lack of understanding of how this effort would played out and more so it can be said did it intentionally. Canada’s long hate for Aboriginal culture goes back to the country’s early development and it can’t

Trump has claimed to “make America great again” However, what does this statement mean for Canada? Trump in 2017 alone has Renegotiated NAFTA, Put a cap on the amount of refugees entering the USA and finally Trump stated while campaigning for a presidency that stated he was going to build a wall in between the USA and Mexico. What does this mean? This means that Trump Threatened to walk away from NAFTA because Canada and the Mexico were being “difficult” and Canada needs NAFTA because the USA has been a main buyer for Canada's oil productions and this could put Canada
Canada ranks among the leading energy producers in the world, through oil production. These oil deposits rank oil sands of Canada as the largest oil deposits in the world after the Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. The only challenge with the oil sand deposits is that oil deposits are seen as unconventional. In effect, tar sands are recognized as one of the dirtiest energy sources in the world (Bailey & Droitsch, 2015). This fact is founded on the production factor; in producing one barrel of tar sands oil, the hazardous emissions are three to five times that of producing the equivalent of conventional oil. The Alberta oil sands are viewed as the single largest economic project in human history. The Canadian government and oil
