What Makes a Great Leader Caesar, while being a powerful leader, is perhaps the most well known failed leader in history. While exuding tons of power, he lacked three major qualities all good leaders have. Without these qualities anger and injustice run amuck. The three major qualities that make a great leader are honesty, tenacity, and empathy. Honesty is massively important to an exquisite leader. For example George Washington is considered to be one of the best Presidents in American history. One major factor in Washington’s success is his honesty. The only way he could lead an army is by telling them exactly what was going on and what they needed to do. A second example of an honest leader is Abraham Lincoln. Mr. Lincoln lead America through one of the most bloody wars in history. It is often said of him that he could never tell a lie. A third example of this is Mr. Rosser, the choir director at Broken Arrow High School. In order to improve a group immensely a director must tell students exactly …show more content…
Considered to be perhaps the greatest leader, Jesus always displays his tenacity. Despite facing many hardships, he never gives up his beliefs. He holds fast even when it means upsetting those who have sinned. A good example of an everyday leader who uses tenacity is my mother. She uses tenacity often to run our household. If it was not for her tremendous tenacity all the children in my family would be ludicrously spoiled. Atticus Finch, in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, is constantly mocked for how he chooses to lead his house; nevertheless, he still uses tenacity by raising his children according to his morals. Clinging to his ideals, he never surrenders them even when ridiculed. The citizens of Maycomb are continually disgusted with Atticus; however, he doesn't let other people affect his strong morals. Inspiring others, good leaders display their beliefs by having
Lewis Haynes, a Catholic surgeon for the USS Indianapolis from the nonfiction novel In Harm’s Way, is another grand example of a strong leader. After the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, Dr. Haynes took many of the stranded, wounded and dying men under his wing. Taking care of the men while trying to survive himself, he displays great courage and fortitude in such demanding times. Swimming around and checking on all of the boys who seemed to be on their last leg was Dr. Haynes new job. When the sad news was announced over one of the crew member’s death, Dr. Haynes would refuse put the boy to rest without saying a quick prayer - “Still, he was determined not let any corpse rest without praying over them” (Stanton 201).
A good leader is measured by the ability to inspire, gives back to his people, and true leaders are humble and show humility. Julius Caesar had all these qualities and so much more to offer to the empire of Rome. The conspirator attempted to downgrade Caesar image, and for a short time they succeeded; however, with the help of Antony, the people then realized what they had lost. Julius Caesar was a good leader no matter what the conspirators said.

In Shakespeare’s play, Caesar is a highly respected man that holds great power, and as he gains more power there are men who stand to oppose him. The attributes that Caesar shows has gained him the trust of all of the people, already proivng just how worthy he is to be called the greatest authority figure in Shakespeare’s drama The Tradgedy of Julius Caesar.
Julius Caesar a man who made history, and a man who should get credit for the incredible things he’s done. A Superior Leader A true leader has the courage to stand alone, the confidence to make difficult decisions, and listen to the needs of others. Out of all the rulers of Rome one was different. This leader was the one that standed out among the rest of the commanders, and his name is Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar is a great example of a significant leader. Julius Caesar always goes by his word even when his closest companions try to persuade him, he is generous to the people of Rome when they are in need, and his people were loyal to him even in death.
As Warren Bennis, Founding Chairman of The Leadership Institute at the University of Southern California, once said, “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” This can be interpreted to mean that one can be classified as a leader if he or she can put a plan into action. A leader is often like a visionary, and forward thinkers are needed in society. A visionary has a vivid imagination who makes dreams come true. They provide a backbone in society, helping to plan what is to come in the future that would be most beneficial. Without a leader that has the qualities of a visionary, no civilization has a bright future. Julius Caesar, Roman general-turned-ruler, was a historical visionary who fit Warren Bennis’ description of a leader. Possibly one of the most well-known Roman figures, Caesar extensively pushed Rome to one of its best eras, despite Caesar himself having a bit of a dark side. Even though Caesar seized power in the Roman Empire and named himself “Dictator For Life,” Julius Caesar was a great leader. He helped to expand the empire into France, as well as glorifying Rome through architectural projects and reforms. Overall, ?
Any great leader should rule and act as how they would wish their followers to behave. In the play, "Julius Caesar" by William Shakespeare, a powerful man is murdered by some of his closest friends and colleagues, including his best friend Brutus, in order to potentially save the future of Rome from a harsh tyrant. Out of all the characters in the book, Brutus exhibits a majority of leadership traits that make him the most compatible leader for Rome because he fights for what he believes in, he is well focused, and he is incredibly loyal and devoted to Rome. Being able to fight for what you believe in is an incredibly strong leadership quality that fortunately Brutus has. Although it is true that Brutus had to be persuaded to kill Caesar,
Leadership is a character’s unique way of guiding their follower’s in an attempt to make their country better than the previous leader’s attempted to. The leader is striving to make accomplishments and uphold the promise’s they handed out to the follower’s in effort to be loved and respected. There are various leadership styles and each one can be analyzed by the leader’s character traits and method’s. In history, when you study previous president’s or even military leader’s you will see the repetitive nature of the leader trying to control by enforcing rules and regulations for the citizens to abide by. When the leaders fail to make their followers happy by mistaking control for respect the followers tend to fight back and the leader begins to lose control
John Maxwell once said, “People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision.” What is a leader? A leader is one who knows the way, shows the way, and goes the way. Qualities of a good leader require courage, charisma, strength, knowledge and wisdom, good morals and power. All of these qualities of leadership boil down to what is known as integrity. Integrity is doing what is morally correct; it requires honesty, making the “right” decisions for the community, taking the blame, and being selfless. A good leader should possess all these qualities in order to be capable of leading and gaining respect from others. Cassius was set at such a high place of being a leader, but Brutus proved he would’ve been a better fit for the title.
¨A real leader faces the music, even if he doesn't like the tune,¨ (Arnold H. Glasgow). A leader is virtuous. A virtuous leader always displays courage, optimism, and obedience by their actions towards their people for safety. In the play, “ Julius Caesar, ” the tale of, “ The Nun’s Priest, ” they teach a moral why you need to follow the traits, optimism, obedience, and courage to use and become a virtuous leader.
To be a leader, one must have certain traits that contribute, in a good way, to their leadership. An example could be persistence. What is a leader without persistence, what would be the point of them doing anything at all? Bravery is another valuable trait to have. In order to be a leader, you must be brave enough to stand for what you believe in and what you want to change, even when the outcome may seem bleak. One more essential trait: motivation. A leader simply cannot be a leader if no one is motivated to follow them. An example of a leader who exhibits all three of these characteristics in a great way would be Martin Luther King Jr. He was an African-American man who lived in a segregated time and place. Quickly, King became a leader
Julius Caesar was a good political leader, despite his mistakes. His actions were all made with the intention of changing Rome for the better. Caesar has proved to be a good leader in many ways, a few examples being he was loved by his people, he made many sensational reforms, and he took helpful risks. Because of his political actions, Caesar was looked up to and loved by his people.
