The data above proves both our hypothesis and prediction wrong. We hypothesized that the lemon green tea would inhibit the growth of bacteria more than green tea. This is because along with having catechins from the green tea, which interfere with bacterial membrane processes, the lemon green tea had flavonoids from the lemon, which alter enzyme activity, and a low pH, inhibiting acid tolerance and the formation of bacterial biofilm. In both of tests, the green tea solution created a larger zone of inhibition than the green tea with lemon, which is why our hypothesis was wrong. The water was our negative control, so it created no zone of inhibition and the beach was our positive control, so it always had a zone of inhibition. From the both
Ajax, which was thought to have killed the most E. coli, was because of its ingredient lactic acid, which was used as a natural anti-bacterial. A potential reason why the Ajax didn’t kill as much E. coli as what was predicted might have been that the amount of Ajax solution soaked up was not actually sufficient enough to cause an effect. Therefore, the results varied. The results were different and had a large gap between them causing three varied answers. Vinegar was thought to kill not as much as Ajax but as it turned out, had a larger zone of inhibition but didn’t efficiently kill or clear as much. The vinegar tried to kill more because of the high acid levels that entered the cell membrane and killed the cell. The vinegar that was used didn’t kill as many cells because the concentration was not high enough. Again, the same as the ajax, there were 3 varied answers. This is proposed to be because of different of length of time that it spent in the solution. Salty water which was presumed to kill the least was correct.
The result of this experient shows that lunch meat grows more bacteria than Skittle and bacteria does grow more if we drop it. In the result of lunch meat, tile floor grows the most bacteria and for the Skittle, bacteria grows more on the cotton cloth. During the experient, I find out that it’s interesting that after 12 hours, that control sample for lunch meat grows more bacteria than the lunch meat on cotton cloth.
Smart water is "vapor distilled water and added electrolytes for taste." It has electrolytes added not for performance as in Gatorade, but instead added "for taste." The electrolytes are calcium chloride, magnesium chloride and potassium bicarbonate. Gatorade has Filtered Water, Brominated Vegetable Oil, which helps prevent the oils from rising to the surface. It also ensures the stability of the flavor mixture and it has Sucralose (a non-calorie artificial sweetener) High Fructose Corn Syrup. While Dr. Pepper has carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural and artificial flavors, sodium benzoate (preservative), and caffeine. Drinking soda is not the best option because a single can of soda contains
Have you ever gotten a sports drink instead of a soda thinking you were choosing a healthier option? Well this might change your perspective. Powerade and Gatorade are just watered down soda; yes, it gives you electrolytes which is what you lose when you sweat, but that does not mean it is good for you. There are many other healthier ways of getting electrolytes than by just drinking a sugar drink. In the Powerade article written by the company does not argue about how water is not helpful to athletes and does not have the opposing argument. Although the gatorade article written by David R. Lamb they make it more persuasive than informational.
Gatorade is a flavored non-carbonated sports drink manufactured by the Quaker Oats Company, now a division of PepsiCo. Intended for consumption during physically active occasions, Gatorade is formulated to rehydrate and replenish fluid, carbohydrates and electrolytes.
“Sports drinks such as Gatorade promise better athletic performance, but in some cases they’re not really necessary. Water does the trick in many cases” (Kent). Gatorade is the most commonly sought after sports drink by athletes. Gatorade uses effective advertising to encourage consumers to buy their product. With the use of professional athletes and other celebrities, Gatorade’s ads persuade people everywhere their product is superior to consuming water. In this ad, Gatorade uses Dwyane Wade-who is a professional basketball player-to showcase their product. Wade is drinking Gatorade while in his Chicago Bulls uniform, showing Gatorade’s customers that he uses it to play well. Gatorade is willing to spend “...near-nine-figure…” amounts of money to persuade customers that drinking Gatorade is highly beneficial (“Who
On August 19th, 2015 this experiment was performed, by 6 separate lab groups. The experiment began by measuring 1 Ml of E. coli into a pipette and pump, then placing the bacteria into a culture medium. The E. coli and medium were then swirled together for a period of 15 minutes, until completely mixed. This mixture was then poured into a petri dish and allowed to solidify for 45 minutes. After the 45 minute solidification time, 5 small paper disks were inserted into the dish. 4 of the disk contained treatments of antibiotic and 1 was left untreated. The
Which is better, sports drinks or water. Both beverages have similar properties. Both are proper hydration methods and are healthy for the body if consumed right. However, sports drinks have higher calories than water and most people don't prefer to drink something high in calories after a workout. Some people prefer water to hydrate better, and some people belive the same with sports drinks. With some factors, sports drinks seem to be better than water in our bodies. Sports drinks provide electrolytes and carbohydrates, give better flavor, and recover from longer workouts.
The objective of this experiment is to see how safe bottled and tap water is to drink based on what is in the water; specifically the contaminants and the pH balance of the water. As well as if the temperature of the environment that the water is placed in affects the pH balance of the water along with if bacteria is grown due to the condition it is in. Water is one of the most important things in life, being as it is known as the universal solvent, and humans and many other animals need it to survive. Along with water, the balance of pH is also extremely important in the maintenance of any organism 's life, including the lives of humans. Temperature is known to affect the speed of movements of ions within a solution. There are specific
Garlic-Onion-Beet-Spinach-Mango-Carrot-Grapefruit Juice by Nathalie VanBalen, available at the author’s website, www.thorathinks.com, is a super-cool, beautifully done picture book that teaches kids about juicing and compassion towards our fellow creatures in an age appropriate way. With bright colors, fun stuffed animals characters and colorful phrases, this book is really cool, fresh and modern. Kids, including my 4-year old son, really love it. This book is one of a select few that I highly recommend to vegan and vegetarian children and to any parents and children seeking to live a healthier more compassionate life. It would make a great gift for any child. Nathalie’s handmade stuffed animals would make a great huggable addition to the book.
Some benefits can also benefit the product itself. Like many other lactic acid bacteria lactobacillus plantarum229v releases lactic acid if in dairy based product lactic acid might bring a negative side effect of giving it a crude rancid taste and smell in juices with a sour taste like orange, black current, and mango these lactic acid give or enhance the taste. According to a 2006 study of comparison of both probiotic and non-probiotic juice, juices containing lactobacillus plantarum yields a higher mark with emphasis on them being more fragrant and tasteful. Another side effect of these lactic acid is that the lactobacillus plantarum uses the lactic acid to control competing microorganism this affects the product by giving it a longer shelf life without any excessive amount of sugar and or any other added preservative.it is also worth mentioning that by eliminating the need of any preservative production cost can be cut down significantly and the product can now avoid any problems based on the use of
The pertaining research involves the electrolytes in drinks. “Electrolyte” will be defined and its description of what they do, what they are, and how they help people will be further explained. The intention is to establish the efficiency of sports drinks and orange juice and then compare them. The pros and cons of both the orange juice and sports drinks will be elucidated through the research. Other drinks consumed after exercise will also be researched and their efficiency will be explained.
I am not at all saying that Boethius maintains both claims (man 's historical content is both planned and not planned), though I would ask him exactly that question if only I could! To my way of thinking, its like if we were to say that I wanted to have a cold glass of apple juice at 3PM on Thursday, but you passed by the apple orchard and brought me lemons. That 's OK, though, because I turned it around and made Blue Ribbon-winning lemonade--it doesn 't matter because all I really wanted was a cold glass of juice.
Testing the Effects of Bacteria Growth on a Non-Treated Vs. Treated Hand Name: Laura Torres Biology 1407-P Abstract The objective of this experiment was to test the effects of bacteria using a treated hand and an unwashed hand. Two plates of agar and a hand is used to retrieve the bacteria and then placed in a temperature where they can survive. Different types of bacteria are affected by the environment that slow down or increase the growth of these prokaryotes.
Sweet Leaf Tea has an incredible way of communicating right . Though it started small , it eventually became a success . The company kept a strong corporate strategy of communication through Facebook and Twitter and other social media websites. In fact online platform and social media are the best way to communicate and retain fans. Social media is the best way to gain millions of people across the world .
