I am writing about the story of I am a native American and freedom walkers and JoAnn Robinson. This story is also going to be about should we ignore the past time and focus on presents, or we should focus more on the past than the present. *It is so important to belief the tradition those who came before us, so we could follow what they did and go to the right path and not fall in the wrong path, the people who came before us has made some mistakes so we learn from that mistake and go to the right way. *If we ignore the past of what people had done, we would make the same mistakes what people in the past has done, if we did not ignore the past and learn everything that had happened in the past we would learn the same mistakes and
What can the past teach us? This is a very widespread and very used question, but if we think carefully of this question that seems so simple and innocent it has so many meanings and importance to mankind, the present and what may be the future. The past can teach us many things, where we come from, who we are, who were our
Our individualized culture and history depends on us to better understand where we come from. It is necessary for each generation to preserve and continue our customs and beliefs.
This follows with a lot of the other things we learned, because up until this point almost everybody had to follow rules no matter what, the people did not get to say if they wanted to do something or not. And as we learn about different societies, we also learn about the different religions that they had. Each society is different; the Indus Valley was the only place that had Buddhism. It is important to know the different religions and see how they evolve as we see more societies pop
Jackie Robinson is the story I am going to be writing about. It is about a black baseball player and he has just went into the World Series. He had broken the color barrier for his country and he knew he was going to get a lot of hate because of the color of his skin. Feng Ru was the Chinese man of aviation. He created planes for a living and that changed his home country because they can get around much easier. Melba Bee was a girl who had to walk 10 miles a day to get to class when there was a school right next to their house. However, that school was an all white school, so they were protesting. They sued the school and they later were able to get into the school.
The two short stories that I will use for this essay are “Three Generations of Native American’s Birth Experience” by Joy Harjo and “Black Mountatin, 1977” by Donald Antrim. In “Black Mountain, 1977”, the story is about a grandson and grandfather that try to keep a relationship even when the grandfather’s daughter doesn’t want them to have a relationship. The grandson would stay with his grandparents and found a way to keep their relationship strong even with some of the problems that happened along the way. In “Three Generations of Native American Women’s Birth Experience”, the story starts out with a girl as a pregnant teenager about to give birth on a reservation in a hospital that gave her free care but was not a pleasant place. Then goes on to tell about her next child’s birth and other women in her family about how different their birthing experiences were. Despite “Black Mountain, 1977” telling a story about a dysfunctional family, “Three Generations of Native American Women’s Birth Experience”, tells the growth of a family through hardships.
We have to do with the past only as we can make it useful to the present and the future- Frederick Douglass.
Admiring the current situation of modern day America, I would choose an event that relates to today. The Trail of Tears is the removal of Native Americans from their ancestral land to land reserved just for them, that lasted from 1839 to 1850, usually near the area of what is the state of Oklahoma today. Considering the damage and effects it had on Native Americans, I would want to see their travel, their struggle, as well as their hopes of ever being accepted become a lost ideal.
One person who has shown moral courage would be the well-liked Jackie Robinson. Robinson is an iconic figure for his involvement in Major League Baseball as the first African-American baseball player to play in the Major Leagues. During his Major League Baseball career, Robinson showed moral courage by taking the hate and oppression for putting an end to racial inequality in Major League Baseball.
history though is that we can learn from our mistakes, and make sure that nothing like this ever
The topic I have chosen for my research paper is the impact Louisa May Alcott, a writer from the 1800’s, had on the people in America. Louisa May Alcott was a writer that wrote a few famous books, including Little Women, An Old Fashioned Girl, and Under the Lilacs. Especially in Little Women, a recurring theme in the book is equality between girls and boys and women's struggle between pursuing their dreams and working for their families. Louisa May Alcott’s views on these topics really shined through to all the young readers and inspired them. I want to learn more about these ideas and write about them. They are interesting to me, and I have also read the book Little Women so I can understand the ideas from the book.
Tradition (culture?) plays a huge role and the start of The Good Earth and later diminishes. People believe that you should respect your elders, listen to the gods, and follow what life is planned for you. If one were to speak against their elders, they would no longer earn
According to the Wesleyan Quadrilateral, Tradition helps us avoid individualism. Through tradition are we able to learn from the past, so we may be able to gain guidance in the present. Traditions in today’s age are often associated with families, schools, sports, religions, etc.. Activities like family dinners, parties, BBQs, and many others activities are all examples of traditions that are often used by groups today. In most cases, traditions are a good thing, but there are moments where the Bible disregards tradition. In the book of Matthew, Jesus says “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?” in response to the Pharisees. If tradition is not helpful for the community it can be seen as unhelpful for the individuals. The definition of tradition alone counters the basic ideas of individualism. However, traditions can influence individualism. Individuals can pick up on concepts from traditions such as elbows off the dinner table, kids eat first, and many other types of teachings that could derive from
It is important to know what happens in the past and to celebrate what we have, and to acknowledge it. If we make the same mistakes again and again, people would be battling for everything. Almost no one would treat each other nicely. The traditions we do show us to remember what was important to others before us. Traditions let us know what was good to do in the past. Legends and stories help us remember the past and let us know who was important before, and where these stories came from.
Human beings make mistakes; sometimes they learn from their first mistake, sometimes they learn after
Things that I think I would think is the text have me think that if we see the past we can fix the future. Also we can have seen those mistakes and never make them again and watch out for the future. Then when we think of mistakes we made like the great depression or like world war 1 and 2 we can fix it.Lastly the future has things we might come upon that happened in the past and we can look back and see what happened. That is how if we look at our past that it can help out future.
