1. Chemical and electrical charges run through the neuron and the charges are shifted to another direction and continue towards the new direction at high speeds. This is how the signal transmission across a myoneural junction allows the nervous system to move a football player’s muscles. 2. Many environmental and behavioral factors could’ve led to Joseph’s dehydration event. The team was playing football outside in Florida in hot August. Joseph was running around, using the water he had in his body and he wasn’t drinking enough water. Also his team was missing a few players so he had to work extra hard to make up for the disadvantage. If Joseph did drink an energy drink, it certainly didn’t hydrate him although he may have thought it did. 3.
My hypothesis is that powerade would give that boost to make runners run fast. 10 runners are placed in a track to do a 2 mile run. 5 of them would be given powerade to drink in the mile mark while the other 5 are not given anything. The 5 runners that drank the powerade ran 2 miles in 10 minutes while the other 5 runners that didn’t drink anything ran the 2 miles in 12 minutes. As a result powerade helped the runners run faster for their times were faster than the ones that didn’t drink it.
The Great Dehydration was a result of a stomach virus which apparently caused the body to lose water. As the body lost water, water moved out of the cells in attempt to keep solute concentrations balanced across the cell membrane. Sports drinks contain water as well as “electrolytes” like
It is evident that healthy adults running a marathon that replaces with only free water will run into pathophysiology challenges that will affect performance. Adequate fluid intake is crucial for prolonged, strenuous exercises to maintain adequate hydration, thermoregulation, maintain plasma volume and avoid dehydration (Duvillard et al, 2004). Although athletes are prone to hydrate as much as they can during extensive marathons, research shows that fluid replacement with only free water or even hypotonic beverages can be detrimental.
Coach Graves agreed, but he could test it on the Freshman players, because he didn’t want to take the risk of the Varsity team getting sick. In October 1965, Florida’s Freshman team had a game against B team, since B team was older everyone expected them to win. The Gator’s drank Gatorade and the B team drank water. In the early game, the B team was winning but in the second half everything changed! The Freshman team still had energy to play, but the B team became dehydrated. The Freshman Team
Louie allotted one water tin per man,” he used his resources to make the food last so they would survive. (105) When Phil was bleeding out of his head louie had a brilliant idea, “He pulled of his top shirt and T-shirt and pulled Phil’s shirts off as well.” he used the resource of the clothes on their body to keep Phil alive. These are only some ways that Louie had demonstrated his
At the beginning of Joe and Janie’s relationship, she was very much in love with him. When they started their endeavor to the new town, she was very proud of the man she was looking at. He moved to a new town to start his own business and buy his own land. However, as time progressed, the town began to feel lonely to Janie. She never saw Joe anymore, and when she did, he was trying to control her every move. He became very possessive and mean to her. He wanted her to submit to him, and he wouldn’t stop until he had it. The once loving relationship they had, has now become detached.
Slam went the prison door because the poor man missed Sunday mass. Back when Puritan laws were enforceable by the town people had to go to Sunday mass every week, today millions of people who are Christian do not go to mass on Sunday. Today’s society is not an extent of its Puritan roots. It promotes extravagant behavior. Society rewards being lazy and not hardworking. It ignores adultery. America is not an extent of its Puritan past because it promotes interracial marriages, helps the lazy and provokes adultery.
Muscle contraction can be understood as the consequence of a process of transmission of action potentials from one neuron to another. A chemical called acetylcholine is the neurotransmitter released from the presynaptic neuron. As the postsynaptic cells on the muscle cell membrane receive the acetylcholine, the channels for the cations sodium and potassium are opened. These cations produce a net depolarization of the cell membrane and this electrical signal travels along the muscle fibers. Through the movement of calcium ions, the muscle action potential is taken into actual muscle contraction with the interaction of two types of proteins, actin and myosin.
Prompt: How does Hawthorne develop his themes of sin, hypocrisy, and corruption in the Puritan society through the occurrences of the scarlet letter, the scaffold, the Puritans, the prison, and the forest in the story?
Furthermore, sculpting was known as a masculine skill because women were unlikely to endure the strength and flexibility needed to sculpt. Women were not allowed to see a man’s naked body either. Therefore, it was difficult for a woman to understand the man’s body in action. However, Properzia harmonized these abilities and made it apparent in her most famous marble sculpture Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife (1525-1526). Properzia enlisted in a competition against many male sculptors “to become one of a select team of sculptors, working in the Basilica of San Petronino, the main church of Bologna (Vickery, 2014). She won said competition. Although being a female sculptor had its obstructions; her masterpiece was hung in an unexclusive area
Principle 1- Communication skills are a must for a leader to be able to effectively communicate the tasks that need to be completed. In Genesis 41:47-57 Joseph was able to effectively lead the people to store up enough food in seven years to sell to those in need within the next seven years during the famine. In doing so he saved the lives of many who would have otherwise died from the famine.
Spiritual adultery occurs when a Christian falls in love with things of the world. I remembered when I was in a courtship with my wife; we deliberated on how to sustain a lifetime partnership.
B. The desire for a powerful energy drink can lead to a lot of misinformation.
One of the inherent conflicts in the story of Joseph is the tension between Joseph and his brothers. The tension between them is caused by both Jacob and Joseph. First, Jacob shows favoritism toward Joseph, because he is the son of his favorite wife Rachel. Second, Joseph brings back bad reports when he is out pasturing with his brothers. However, what truly increased the hatred and jealousy was the Joseph’s dreams. The author notes that when Joseph recounts the dreams, “they hated him even more (Gen. 37:8).” Their jealousy for Joseph is strong enough that they are willing to murder him. However, they decide to instead sell him into slavery, and convince Jacob that he was killed.
As well, sport drinks have the ability to provide a subject with an increased amount of endurance for their exercise. One reason why sport drinks have this capability is due to the carbohydrates found in the beverages. These carbohydrates exist as either of two sugars, sucrose and glucose-fructose, which provide the energy for the body that makes sport drinks better to use during exercise than water (Tsintzas 155). Carbohydrate consumption allows athletes to work harder for longer periods of time and to feel better while doing the exercises. A recent study determined that runners who had only water to drink lost speed during the race compared to those who had sport drinks. Also, performance time was faster in runners who consumed the sport drinks as opposed to water. It was only during the final 17.2 kilometres of the race that the performance times began to differ and the runners who drank the sport drinks ran faster (Tsintzas 156). Furthermore, the exercise intensity was higher towards the end of the race from those runners who had the sport drinks. As with most performance enhancing implements, sport drinks have potential drawbacks.
