Joseph Stalin
On March 18, 1878 in the small town of Gori Georgia a woman named Keke Geladze give birth to a baby boy by the name of Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili (later changed to Joseph Stalin). At the time, obviously, Keke had no idea of what that little boy would go on to do. She had no idea that by the end of his life that same baby boy would have a kill count of around up to 20 million people and would have tortured millions of millions of people along with becoming one of the most powerful man in history and Russia’s dictator.
As a child, Joseph Stalin was treated below par by the children in the village, the other children supposed they were superior. This was one of main things that caused him to crave respect as an adult. As you know by his killcount, Joseph Stalin would rarely forgive the people that betrayed him remorselessly.
His mother hoped that stalin would become a priest, and as you already know things didn 't turn out as she had hoped. He was enlisted in church school in 1888. A mixture of his effort and his intelligence in school earned him a scholarship for Tiflis Theological Seminary in 1894.
In 1899 Stalin left school the official reason being he was incapable of paying the tuition thus causing him to drop out. However there was belief that he didn 't actually drop out, rather, he was demanded to leave because of his political views. In sometime around 1902, Joseph Stalin coordinated a labour strike and was arrested and exiled to Siberia. In the
1Joseph Stalin was born on December 18, 1878. His given name is Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili or Ио́сиф Виссарио́нович Ста́лин in Russian. He was born in what would now be Georgia in a place called Gori, Tiflis Governerate, Russian Empire. Stalin’s family lived in poverty all throughout his childhood. His father worked as a cobbler mending shoes and his mother was a maid. He was very violent towards his son and was an avid alcoholic. The family’s home was a small shack off of a dirt road. They had a serious problem with the home constantly being wet with sewage. Stalin had many issues with disease as a child. First he caught smallpox at the age of seven. As a result of the smallpox, scars were left on his face. This would become an area of embarrassment for Stalin throughout his childhood. Stalin also caught blood poisoning as a child. This was a result of one of the brutal beatings his father gave him while drunk. Because of this one of his arms became deformed and stopped growing causing him to lose use of the hand. Because of the intense beatings Stalins father gave him, he began to hate him. One Stalin became old enough he tried to fight back so his father would not beat his mother. Stalin received education at his local church school because of Czar Alexander III’s educational
Joseph Stalin greatly influenced Russia in the years 1924 through 1932. His rise to this power can be explained by the Russian Revolutionary experience that allowed him to gain authority in Russia. Although historians often refer to Stalin as a ruthless, mindless dictator, he redirected the Russian Revolution to major economic development. Stalin’s character in Russia during the Revolution catalyzed the many events that took place during the time period. Because of Stalin’s ability to both appeal to the masses, and take advantage of events, like Lenin’s death, Stalin was able to rise to power. Essentially, the Russian Revolution fostered the development of Stalin’s dictatorship leading the country into a state of economic growth and influence. The Revolution fostered Stalin’s ability to maintain a central leadership, use violence to gain control, and regenerate a previously disconnected economy.
Some facts about the Soviet Union leader include becoming a priest as he was a clever student he was awarded scholarship to study at the Tbilisi Theological Seminary in Georgia; he never graduated but was expelled for reading banned books. Another one was in 1941, when his eldest son Yaakov was captured by the Germans, Stalin, however refused a German offer to release his son in return for a captured Field-Marshal, stating that the exchange of a soldier for a field marshal is an uneven exchange.
King Leopold II and Joseph Stalin were both tyrants who ruled during different times in history. Both men ruled their respective territories almost solely autonomously and exploited, mutilated, and murdered the people who they should have been protecting. The atrocities committed by these are remembered as some of the most horrific crimes committed during their respective centuries of rule. It is important to understand that these men did not begin their rein with the intent on killing millions of people. They believed in their countries and wanted to relinquish power with their homeland in a better state and brighter future than when they assumed power. As is seen in history, it is to easy to commit heinous crimes for the sake of a good intentions. Not only where both of leaders monsters, but looking the lens of the present they were also terrorists. They terrorized not just people not from the same home land but their own countrymen and in doing so will always be remembered not for the good they did do, but the egregious acts they committed throughout their tenure.
hurchill was sent to an expensive preparatory school called St. George’s st Ascot right before his 8th birthday in november 1882. In April 1888 Churchill was sent to Harrow school, a boarding school that is near London. While he was there he joined Harrow Rifle Cords which helped put him on his Military career. Winston had to take an exam for the British to military college because he didn't pass the first two times. He graduated 20th in his class of 130.
Prior to his rise to power, Joseph Stalin’s early life had a large impact on his future as a leader of the Soviet Union. Stalin was born into a dysfunctional family in Gori, Georgia on December 21, 1879 (Joseph Stalin pbs.org). His real name however, was Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili. Then changed his last name to Stalin because he combined the Russian word stal, which means steel, and Lenin, the name of the Soviet Union leader at the time (jewishvituallibrary.org). In keeping with his strong name, Stalin contracted and even survived smallpox at a young age, but with the only remaining evidence being a facial scar from where the smallpox where it had formed at. Stalin was sent to a seminary in Tiflis, now known as Tbilisi, to become a priest. However, Stalin never completed his education and soon became involved in the city’s active revolutionary circle ,
The rise to power for Joseph Stalin was difficult. Stalin started out as a poor boy whose father “was a shoemaker and an alcoholic who beat his son, and his mother was a laundress” (Joseph Stalin). Stalin, in his teen years, “earned a scholarship to attend a seminary” (Joseph Stalin) for the Georgian Orthodox Church to study their priesthood. While he was there, he secretly studied Karl Marx’s “Communist Manifesto”. Then he started becoming interested in “movement against the Russian monarchy” (Joseph Stalin). He participated in labor demonstrations and strikes. This was just the start of Stalin’s rise to power.
Looking at the early ages of Winston Churchill, he was born November 30, 1874 right in Blenheim Palace. His parents were never involved much in his life so his nanny, Mrs. Everest, took care of him. Churchill had graduated from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1895, and from there he fought in Cuba, India, and Egypt. Churchill grew weary of being in the military, so he left in 1899 and ran for Parliament, which didn’t turn out to well.
Stalin started out from small, simple means. He was born on December 18, 1878. Stalin and I have the same exact birthday….except for the fact that he is, well, 123 years older than
This paper will discuss how Stalin’s background helped build the qualities of a ruthless leader and how he displayed them
At the age of 10, Joseph “Stalin” Djugashvili attended Gori’s religious elementary school. His mother, Yekaterina, wanted him to be a priest and would usually beat her son if he son whenever he misbehaved. These beatings were never as bad as those
Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili was born December 21, 1879, according to himself (there are records of many different birthdays for him) in Gori, Georgia. He adopted the name “Stalin” in his late 30’s which means “man of steel”. As a child, he was very poor and had smallpox, which left scars on his face. His dad was an alcoholic and his mom was a laundress. In 1899, Staling was expelled from school for missing final exams but he blamed it on Marxist propaganda. When he left school, he began to participate in labor strikes and demonstrations. During this time, he also involved himself in criminal activities like bank robberies. This money he got was given to the Bolsheviks party. Stalin also was arrested on two occasions in 1902 and
“Death is the solution to all problems. No man - no problem.” This is a direct quote from one of the most notorious men in history, Joseph Stalin. Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union from the mid 1920’s until his death. The period in which he ruled over the Soviet Union was known as the Reign of Terror because he was a malicious leader who was ready to do anything to maintain the level of power he achieved. Joseph Stalin was the most controversial person in Russia who has come into power. This has come from his 5 year plan that he has assembled when Russia was in shambles, due to the civil war, the economy failing, and no industrial equipment. His job now was to restore Russia and make it into an industrial powerhouse.
Today I want to talk about Josef Stalin, “ a man who’s genuine historic achievement lies in the fact that he found Russia working with a wooden plough and left her equipped with atomic piles” – those are the words of a polish writer, journalist and political activist Isaac Deutscher, who newer was a proponent of Stalin. In the short 20 years, Stalin took mostly agrarian country ravaged by civil war, and developed it into industrialized power. But I want to focus on the Stalin’s leadership at the most dramatic time for Soviet Union, World War II. On his qualities and actions before and during that time that proved him to be a visionary leader. Also I want to talk about things that I learned about myself after sifting through a lot of information
