We are all influenced and affected by the culture in which we grew up in and the societies where we live. Those cultures shape our expectations, beliefs, goals, and values. Scientists, also, are shaped by the societies and cultures, which in turn, sway their work. For instance, a scientist may refuse to take part in a certain type of research because it clashes with their political view or personal beliefs. One scientist whose personal convictions, intensely affected the research in which he took on was Joseph Rotblat, a Polish-born physicist. In the year 1939, Joseph Rotblat became one of the very first scientist to take hold of the significance of splitting atoms---that the energy released by them could potentially be used to cause a chain

Serial Killers have been studied by psychologists, anthropologist and sociologists for years. In the following case study I will be talking about Robert Pickton. Robert Pickton is Canada’s most notorious serial killer, he was charged with 26 murder cases in 2006. I will analyze Roberts’s case with theories from psychology, sociology and anthropology. Psychology can tell us about Robert’s individual behaviour. Sociology can tell us about how the people and society around Robert affected him and Anthropology can tell us how his culture affected him.
“Culture is sometimes described as a lens through which we view the world, meaning that one’s culture influences their perceptions and interactions in everyday life” (Davis, 2006). Every culture has different beliefs and customs
One of the most prolific eras in our world’s history is the Scientific Revolution. During this time men began to think outside the realm of possibility and delved themselves deep into the exciting unknown world of science. The innovative minds of these people churned out inventions like gunpowder and the printing press, as well as, inventive new ways of thinking like the scientific method. Aside from the inventors and innovators, there were also the publicists and writers without whom no one would know or understand the new ideas of the time. One such person was Margaret Cavendish who was born and raised in England. She received the same education that a lady during her time did. However, due to her husband, Sir Charles Cavendish, she was exposed to the world of science. The subject intrigued her so much that she ended up publishing her own theory on atoms. Though her atomic theory contains many scientific Renaissance ideals, it is still seen as a major contribution of thought during the Scientific Revolution.
Ladies and gentleman, we are gathered here to push the human race forward. We believe that by improving the educational system we are investing in our future, that everyone should be able to access the type of education that is right for them. Nowadays America faces a very distressful situation regarding the educational reach of our system, which has been engaged with several issues, such as unequal access to education, student dropouts, violence within the walls of the classroom, bullying, gender bias and standardized tests that put the educational community at the verge of a methodic and old fashion evaluation process which eventually lead to a particular lifestyle of the students. Also, the lack of interest in the matter of community service has been rising, as well as our concern for the safe keeping of the citizen’s humanitarian values.
Do you think that your culture impacts your decisions more than your personal opinion does? Or maybe that your culture has nothing to do with your viewpoint? There is a lot of controversy on this topic. A person 's culture majorly affects how one views the world, however personal opinion, experiences also play a role. Personal experiences help to shape people into who they are today.
Sometimes I question if culture changes who you are. I try to pull up memories of the decisions I make, are they affected by my culture? Here is the response I came up with: Culture sporadically informs how an individual sees the world because, even being from completely different places and raised in contrasting households, people could still have similar views based on what they think of others and not how you are constructed with your culture, however, sometimes affects your perspective in certain occasions in circumstances where you wouldn’t face a community the same if you weren’t from the culture you were built in. This idea is supported by the personal essay by Bharati Mukherjee, Two Ways to Belong in America, the essay by Robert Lake, An Indians Father Plea, and also personal experience.
