Joseph Lartey Inspires Me

He appreciated everything Jack’s family had done for him, especially Jack himself. Despite struggles throughout his journey, for example, “That’s why it felt like a nightmare when Joseph, maybe three steps away from the bank, fell through the ice of the Alliance River.” (GS38) As Joseph did go through these problems every once in a while, Jack had some what changed Joseph. During a fight broke out in the gym locker room, Joseph was being ganged up on.

He was accused of wrongdoing by his master’s wife. He was imprisoned and forgotten about by the people whom he helped. And all during this time he was separated from his family and in a foreign land. Joseph faced severe persecution and opposition from all that he met, but still was faithful to God.

No one understood what he was going through and he had no one to lean on. Because he has to deal with everything himself, he has many internal and external conflicts. He has to deal with the fact that his only friend and the love of his life is gone forever. Unfortunately, he does not fully share his thoughts or problems to the reader or people around him. With a positive tone, the author states that "it was inside him and outside him, and it was already starting to scream, and it was getting louder and his brain was getting louder and he threw water in his face but he couldn’t stop it” (Schmidt 82). This quote displays the fact that he is a very troubled boy who has a lot on his plate. Joseph has to overcome all of his problems by himself, and he feels like he is going to explode. Joseph is also becoming a dynamic character because he starts to get closer to his family. Once he does this, he beings to tell them his story, and what had happened to him. This is an incredibly important part in the story because it really shows the reader what Joseph is like on the inside. Similarly, it explains that he is capable of sharing his

Joseph learns from his father, Elias’ faults in both his community leadership and personal life. Joseph is a more powerful leader as well as a family member because of this. At the beginning of the novel, Elias is introduced as the former leader of Waknuk the community they live in. He teaches and inspires Joseph to lead the community, but he is also a good example for Joseph to learn how to alter his leadership styles to be more effective. At the beginning of the novel, there is a jump back in time to explain Joseph's childhood:

With every great person, there are others behind them supporting them. One person that inspired me was, Dr. Yvonne Thornton, her story reminded me of myself. For example; when she stated her father brought her a car so she would never have to get in the car with a male (something my dad did). Also her rabbit theory, which is the way my family taught me, never cheat, but always learn from the next whether dealing with life or school. My Aunt Brenda and Uncle Cliff also inspired me in many ways. All my life I saw them be nothing but the best, they taught me lessons of life, how to be better, and how to treat others. My Aunt and Uncle taught me always do better than before, never let anybody tell me I’m not good enough, only except or higher. I can honestly say they are great inspiration to me and what I strive to be in the future. My Aunt Brenda’s words of wisdom are; “Remember God is always first in your

When Joseph was thirteen, he made a decision to fall in love in order to distract his mind from the abuse he was suffering at home. The text states “ “.(Shmidt). Everyday, Joseph would walk seven miles to see his loved one and when they eventually had a child, his dedication sky rocketed. This impacted his life greatly because when Madison died during labor, he became depressed, and he wasn't even able to see his daughter because he was underage. Joseph felt so low, that he even accepted drugs from another's student in his school, and this made him insane enough to strangle a teacher. He then was sent to prison, and eventually ended up in a foster home. This all wouldn’t have happened if Joseph was smart enough to stay out of a serious relationship at such a young age. There are thousands of stories in the Bible, but one stands out in particular; the story of Joseph. The Hebrew meaning of the name Joseph is “may Jehovah add, give increase.”1 Through the life of Joseph we see God add meaning and purpose to his life, just as God adds meaning and purpose to all our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”2 Joseph obediently followed God’s plans through trials and tribulations whereas many other figures in the Old Testament faltered in their faith. Joseph, son of Jacob, is the single most important human being in the Old Testament because of his impeccable faith to the one true God and his story of forgiveness that set the stage for God’s chosen people.

The Joseph narrative can be found in the book of Genesis chapters 37-50. It is slightly interrupted “by the story of Judah and Tamar (Gen. 38) and by the so-called Blessing of Jacob (Gen. 49:1-28)” (Skinner, 438). The story of Joseph is seen as unique because it has different characteristics than its counterparts in Genesis. Other writings in Genesis seem to be short, brief incidents, about family and tribal affairs. The Joseph narrative, on the other hand, is lengthy in nature “comprising some 300 verses” (Barton & Muddiman, 60). I think that it inspired him because Mr.Brook saying that meant that joseph has rights to his own child. I know that because in the book joseph walked all the way from where he lived to New Brunswick. I also think that Joseph deserves to have his child and I do not understand why he was satisfied with the picture when he walked all the way from where he lived in New Brunswick. From my background knowledge I can tell that a father/parent will do anything to get their child to safety and in this case I am sure that Joseph thought his daughter was in danger without

Mason Cain Fausey, when that name comes to mine all I do is get a huge smile on my face. He has been the most influential person in my life, I don’t know what I would do without him. He has helped me through everything I ever went through and always stands by my side I don’t know where I would be without him. Mason has made my life a better one simply by always encouraging me, supporting me no matter what, and helping me up when I fall down.

Over time, there have been several people who have influenced various aspects of my life, based on their personal characteristics, accomplishments, and values. I have been privileged to have had numerous teachers and professors who I respect for their patience and intelligence. There are artists that have inspired me by their natural talents and original creativity. I value many political leaders, who have inspired me by their contributions to society, and their ability to change our futures. Of all the people I have encountered in my life, the person I admire most is my father.
