“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” This quote means that even when life gives someone something bad or sour that someone should still make something good and sweet with it. “Civil Peace,” a short story by Chinua Achebe, fits this quote perfectly because in every case when something bad happens, Jonathan Iwegbu (the main character), makes the situations better the appreciating what is good about it. Jonathan Iwegbu is an affable, considerate, and thankful man. Jonathan is a gentle man. He often avoids most conflict. On the other hand, this appears when the thieves come to his home at night, and rather than trying to fight the, he gives them hsi “egg-rasher” to save his family. Similarly, when he says, “I count it as nothing,” shows

Out of complete desperation, Isabelle grabs a pair of scissors and cuts off her ponytail. She then hands the dislocated clump of hair to the Nazi general. Captain Beck’s living situation has Isabelle absolutely livid and she is unable to see the innocence that lies in his comment. Her actions are motivated by frustration, as she is undeniably troubled by the war facing her country and wants to make a contribution. I think Ishmael refused the "jug of water" from Gasemu because he was angry that he couldn't go see his family right now and that they had to wait to rest. On page 93 Ishmael says, “I became angry that we had to rest, and I sat on a big rock away from the group”. He also said, “Part of me was on the way to the village, the other impatiently waited on the hill”. He was anxious to see them because it had been a long time since he last saw them and has been thinking about them everyday. These two quotes showed how he was angry and anxious about finding out that his family was still alive, but couldn’t see them right away. Ishmael started his journey with Junior, Mohamed, Talloi, Gibrilla, Kaloko, and Khalilou. Ishmael got split from them whenever

I have always tried to love my neighbors and send them flowers and nice fruit, but all the send me is dead flowers, skulls, and the occasional rat.
“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” I try to live by this quote by Charles R. Swindoll every day. I feel that this is a strong quote with a lot of meaning behind it and, it can be interpreted in many ways. In my opinion, we should see things in a positive way all the time. We also should do what we love every day because you never know how close you are to the end.

“When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.”
The quote teaches a valuable lesson too. The lesson it teaches later in life or sooner is that if you just wait, soon it will later happen, you must be patient and later something unremarkable and so valuable you would do outstanding, and once you do that it will or should remain a memory or it should.
