JOHNNY’S DEFENSE OF BOB’S MURDER In Johnny’s defense I think the death of Bob wasn't on purpose. Johnny was just defending his good friend Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy was almost going to drown to death if it wasn't for Johnny. My thought is that Johnny killed Bob off his reaction like Johnny didn't know what to do! The main reason why Johnny killed bob was because Bob was telling david to drown Ponyboy. For example Bob said “ give this greaser a bath”. Also Johnny was going to be drown to death next if he hadn't done anything to stop it. So for nothing to happen to Johnny and Ponyboy Johnny had to do what he had to do. Plus Johnny has been jumped by Bob before this even happened. The reason why was because Bob was just bored. Also Johnny
Johnny had to kill Bob to save Ponyboy because there was no other way around. He couldn’t have stopped them because they were drunk and looking for a fight. (pg 44 and 55) He couldn’t have fought them without a weapon because it would have been a one on five.(pg 55) He had to stab Bob to make them stop because they wouldn’t have run away. They would have drowned Ponyboy.(pg 56 and 57) To save himself and his friend, the defendant had to stab Bob. It made them scared and run away because they had the sole thought of harming both of them so Johnny had to act fast before he was going to be killed along with Ponyboy.
Early in the book Johnny shows that he is shy. But also brave and not scared to stick up for his friends. The Socs jumped Johnny and Ponyboy. They started to drown Ponyboy. Johnny defended him by stabbing Bob. Later, Pony discussed with Johnny, “You really killed him, huh Johnny?’ ‘Yeah.’ his voice quavered slightly. ‘I had to they were drowning
In the novel The Outsiders ,by S.E. Hinton, Johnny is not justified in what he did and is guilty because he clearly targeted his previous attacker; moslikley in an act of revenge. Two He ran off with guilt knowing that he killed Bob, and finally just the fact of saying and preparing to kill the next greaser he saw.
Analysis: (explain how the quote shows reason 1): Following a previous incident, which Johnny was brutally beaten, he knew the power that Bob had. He remembered the pain and fear he felt during the previous encounter and didn’t want to feel the agonizing pain that he felt in the beginning of the book. As a result, he killed Bob to escape the torment he could have went through.
First of all, Johnny was justified in killing Bob. It was in self-defense, the Socs beat up Johnny before traumatizing him, and the only reason why Johnny had his switchblade was because of the same Socs who tried to kill Ponyboy. “The Socs caught my arm and twisted it behind my back, and shoved my face into the
Then Ponyboy runs out the door, finds Johnny, and goes to the park. There, however, the two young greasers run into randy and bob, with a huge group of their Socs friends. One of the Socs friends hold pony boy’s head under a cold water fountain, and Ponyboy blacks out. When he comes to, he is lying on the ground next to Johnny. The bloody corps of bob is next to them. To save Ponyboy, Johnny had to kill bob.
To begin, Johnny is innocent for the murder of Bob concidering that Bob was killing Johnny’s third party Ponyboy, leaving Johnny to use self defence. “ ‘I had
The murder of Bob Shelton occurred because earlier that night Johnny Cade and his friends had been flirting with Bob’s and the Socs’ girlfriends. Bob and four of his friends confronted Johnny Cade and Ponyboy Curtis early the next morning around 2:00 am at a park fountain. David, one of the Socs, began to drown Ponyboy Curtis in the fountain. Johnny Cade lost all sanity and knifed Bob Shelton, who was doing no harm to Cade or Curtis, in order to stop David from drowning Ponyboy Curtis. Johnny is not justified in what he did and is guilty because he carried a switchblade with intent to kill whoever jumped him, killed a person who was not attacking his friend, and lastly, fled the scene of the crime with his friend.
Finally, Johnny is not justified in what he did and is guilty because Johnny killed Bob, who didn’t cause any physical harm in the fight. Johnny stated that “‘I killed that boy.’ Bob, the handsome Soc, was lying there in the moonlight, doubled up and still” (56). This states that Johnny killed Bob instead of David, who was the one harming Ponyboy. This means that Johnny must have wanted to harm Bob for what he has done in the past.
Johnny Cade should not be convicted for murder because it was all out of self-defense. Ponyboy and Johnny were at the park when it happened. A blue Mustang full of Socs started to circle them because Ponyboy and Johnny picked up their girls at the movies. Bob got out of the car and Johnny seen the rings he was wearing were the same ring Bob had on when he jumped Johnny. Bob then told David to give Ponyboy a bath. By that he mean put Ponyboy's head into the fountain. Johnny got his switchblade and started to go to David to make him let go of Ponyboy. David let go of Ponyboy and ran. Bob started to ran after Johnny. Johnny stabbed Bob to save Ponyboy and himself. Therefore, Johnny is innocent and should not be convicted for murder. The prosecution
By stabbing Bob, he also saved Pony from drowning by scaring the rest of the Socs. However where he genuinely shined, was when he jumped into the burning church in Windrixville to save the innocent children trapped inside. Sadly, by saving them, a log fell on him that later killed him. What I find special about Johnny, is that he was raised in a house where he got physically and emotionally abused by his parents. Yet he made the ultimate sacrifice anyway to save kids despite his background.
In contrast to the removed Johnny shown early on, after the realization that he endangered several children, he boldly rushed to assist. After killing Bob in self-defense, Johnny bolts with Ponyboy to an abandoned church in the countryside. However, after presumably dropping a lighted cigarette, the church ignites in a blaze of fumes. Realizing there are children in the flaming church, Johnny and Ponyboy dart to aid. During the calamity, Ponyboy realizes that, “Johnny had been right behind me all the way” as he slips through a broken window and into the fiery church and notes that, “Johnny wasn’t behaving at all like his old self...That was the only time I can think of when I saw him without that defeated, suspicious look in his eyes” (92).
You would think that if someone killed someone they wouldn’t want to look at them or see them the same way but it wasn’t that way for Johnny and Ponyboy they stayed with each other the whole time. Also Johnny killed the Soc to save Ponyboys life. “ You really killed him, huh, Johnny?” “Yeah.” His voice quavered slightly.
Ponyboy says on page twelve "If it hadn't been for the gang, Johnny would never have known what love and affection are". Ponyboy and his friends were the only good he saw in the world. The night that Johnny killed the Bob was when he really started changing. He found enough love and goodness in Ponyboy that he killed someone when the Soc.
Johnny started to stay with Ponyboy, Johnny felt as though as Ponyboy was his brother, he’d do anything for him, but they were not blood-related. Afterwards on in the story Johnny stabbed bob to save Ponyboys life which is a clear example he would do anything for him. In chapter 9 Ponyboy says “We couldn’t get along without him. We needed Johnny as much as he needed the gang” Johnny had become a part of the gang, he had a strong bond with them. If he hadn’t belonged, he would have been living on his own and he would have no friends, no social interactions.
