The definition of freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Does this act or right have to be won more than once? The answer is no. People should not have to fight for their freedom more than once because if someone carries themself with pride then they will never lose their freedom even during the toughest of times. All of the passages we read have shown that freedom does not have to be won twice. In Johnny Tremain, when the british increased the price of tea, the british felt injustice happening in front of their eyes. So they poured the tea into the harbour to show how they felt. This shows that even though they were handling tough problems they weren’t going to surrender against the british and kept fighting and fighting until they released all power from the british. The theme of freedom continues in a speech Franklin D. Roosevelt made called The Day Of Infamy. He says in the speech that even though the bombing of Pearl Harbor occurred, America was not going to become a land of despair and defeat. He also said that since they had been threatened the war was ready to commence. This shows that America wasn’t going down without a fight. It also shows that we still had our freedom and were ready for a war to start. Also, in the poem, Paul Revere’s Ride, it says that the colonists fought during the Revolutionary War, not in pity and fear, but with dignity and pride. This shows that the soldiers fought with confidence because they knew of their power and freedom that they possessed within themselves.
