The battle for American Independence had begun long before the first shots were ever fired in Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. In fact the battle for America had begun years before over three thousand miles away in the house of Parliament led by a man named John Wilkes. A man who lived the life of libertine, and had nothing to gain from any involvement with the Americans took a stand for not only Americans, but a stand for liberty. John Wilkes took a stand for a change in the representation of the electorate in England and America, believing the idea of actual representation should trump the past and faulty system of virtual representation. His father owned a lucrative distillery across the street from their modest home, and this enabled him to provide an education to his son John Wilkes, which gave him an opportunity to make his stand in this world. John attended a presbatearen boarding school run by a man named John Worsley for a period of five years. After this his parents had him tutored by a Presbyterian preacher after the time period with the school run by the worsley family. He went through his childhood education with a heavy focus on prebysteran values, and these would help to guide him in life. It is also during this time period in England where Prebysteerianism would have been known as a religion of dissent.
