Jon Ernst Steinbeck Jr. was born on February 27, 1902 and died in December 20, 1968 John was a pulitzer prize winner in America, novelist in the author of many famous books.His books and works often dealt with the social and economic issues. His book the grapes of wrath about the migration of a family from Oklahoma dust bowl to California was a Pulitzer Prize and National book award winner.John also served as a war correspondent during World War II and he was also awarded the Nobel prize for literature in 1962.

He was raised with the modest means. His father, John Ernst Steinbeck tried his hand as several different jobs to keep his family fed. He owned a green store, managed a flower plant, And also served as the treasurer of Monterey County. John Steinbeck’s mother Olive Hamilton Steinbeck was a former schoolteacher. Steinbeck also grew up with three sisters and had a very happy childhood. John was shy throughout a kid but he was very smart and talented. He formed an early appreciation for the land and in particular California’s Salinas Valley, Which would greatly inform his later writing. According to some Steinback decided to become a writer at the age of 14 he would lock himself in his bedroom to write poems and stories. Later on in life in 1919 Steinbeck in rolled at Stanford University the decision that had nothing more to do with pleasing his parents then anything else.
