In John Heavisides Journal entry, he informs the reader on the research and study that the University of New Hampshire had done about the northern lights by using rocket based sensors. Overall the goal of the the scientific study was to find the density and energy of the electrons in the upper atmosphere during the northern lights. The author goes on to further explain the abundance of frustration he had encountered after collecting the data. Some data sets were inaccurate when using a different method from the data sets that were accurate. The author was unable to comprehend how this could be. At the end of the journal, Heavisides went to his college professor at the University of New Hampshire. The professor had congratulated him on his research

That man is John Lewis Hudson. John was born in Memphis, Tennessee but he grew up in Henry County, where he played football. He was recruited by many colleges. He ended up choosing Auburn, where he would start for 3 years. John said, “I liked Coach Dye and it was a small town. I liked that it was a small town.” He was then drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles and also played for the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens.
Bulimba's Oxford Street is everything that Darlinghurst's isn't. You're more likely to encounter a baby stroller and weak coffee than a severe brain injury and cheap amphetamines.

A train barreled over Joseph Hewins' body on a wintry evening in 1845 in the Massachusetts Berkshires. Hewins had spent the workday shoveling snow off the tracks, only to be killed on his trip back to town when a switchman got distracted. Hewins left behind a wife and three children, who were poor even before his death. His widow sued but lost at every level. Had the train merely chopped off Hewins' leg, the railroad would have paid. But in the perverse logic of that time, when a man died, he took his legal claims with him. And so the thinking went for most of the century, until something unheard of began to happen. The courts started to put a dollar value on a life--after death.
Many people have come to believe that the murderer hit JonBenet's head with a flashlight causing her death.

I feel that I’ve grown a lot since I wrote my first journal for this class. In my first entry, I wanted to gain confidence, improve my timing and count, and to extend my kicks, and I am happy to say that I have improved in all of these areas. Since I’ve come close to recognizing these few goals, I’d like to set some new ones to work on as I continue this journey.
The light and dark represent the good and bad. The light that Atticus is holding when he is present at the jail is sort of a beacon of hope for Tom Robinson. The group that goes to the jail with the intent to hurt Tom and possibly Atticus if need be are surrounded by the nighttime darkness which can symbolize that they only had bad intentions. The jail originally does not have a light present on the outside, but Atticus brings one. For example, “A long extension cord ran between the bars of a second floor window and down the side of the building. In the light from its bare bulb. Atticus was sitting propped against the front door.” Toe explain the darkness, “In ones and twos, men got out of the cars. Shadows became substance as lights revealed
Wegener’s theory was met with much controversy by other scientists. The fact that he was primarily a meteorologist and astronomer rather than a geologist further discounted his theory.
The findings indicate that the general attitudes of both participants can be described as being negative, cynical, and fearful about violent crime and criminal sentencing. Although in general, both participants held non-punitive attitudes they greatly emphasised on safety and security and common sense. In the question about judges making decisions on sentencing and the goals of sentencing, both participants responded with the importance of keeping communities safe by isolating offenders away from the rest of society. In particular, one participant uses an extreme case of a gunman as an example to justify their view. Ben: …when people think of violent offenders beings sentenced in court, they always hope for them to be locked up and away from their community.
John Winthrop’s journal replicates the importance of the Puritan’s devout religion, faith in God, and perfectionist mentality. In 1632, John Winthrop tells a story of a mouse and a snake in which the mouse prevails and kills the snake. Interestingly, the pastor of Boston, Mr. Wilson, interprets this story as “the snake was the devil, the mouse was a poor contemptible people which God had brought hither, which should overcome Satan here and dispossess of his kingdom”. Coincidently, this story is very similar to the story of David and Goliath. The reason the Catholics believe that David won the battle is because God was on David’s side. Very similar to the Catholics, the Puritan followers during the Puritan Age were able to spiritually interpret
WHAT IS THE UNCANNY VALLEY? The uncanny valley is a theory about how people react to human-like things. The Definition from the oxford English dictionary describes it as: “Used in reference to the phenomenon whereby a computer-generated figure or humanoid robot bearing a near-identical resemblance to a human being arouses a sense of unease or revulsion in the person viewing it: anyone attempting to build a believable human facsimile also has to beware of the uncanny valley” But just before something reaches being a full human, there's a drop in positive feelings towards it.
