Born in Greenville, South Carolina on October 8th, 1941, Jesse Jackson is an American civil rights leader, Baptist minister, and politician. Mr. Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr., born October 8, 1941 in Greenville, South Carolina, is known as one of the America’s supreme civil rights and political activists. He is also known as America’s figure for religion and gender equality. Jackson, in December 1996 founded the Rainbow PUSH Coalition; which is a nonprofit international membership organization for the purpose of fighting for social change. This organization was established by the merging of two prior organizations jackson had established; the National Rainbow Coalition and Operation PUSH (People United to Save Humanity).
Jesse James was a well known gang leader, bank robber, and train robber. He was a member of the notorious gang named the James-Younger gang. Jesse James was born on September 5, 1847 in Clay County, Missouri. Jesse and his older brother Frank lost their father in 1849. The father, Reverend Robert James, abandoned his family and disappeared and was thought to go to the California gold fields.
Thomas Jonathan Jackson was born on January 21, 1824 in Clarksburg, Virginia. His father died when Jackson was two years old and his mother when he was seven. Upon becoming an orphan, he lived with his uncle and worked on his farm. Jackson had three years of schooling that started when he was thirteen. He attended West Point Academy and graduated in 1846. Impressively, he finished seventeenth in his class. In the Mexican-American War, Jackson served as a brevet second lieutenant from 1846 through 1848. After resigning from the military, Jackson accepted a teaching position at Virginia Military Institute.
There was, however, one thing (or person) that the Union wasn’t expecting. The Confederates were pushed back to Henry Hill, where Brigadier General Thomas Jackson and his Virginia brigade had just arrived to reinforce them. Jackson set up his artillery on the crest of the hill. He did not budge as the fighting went on. In order to rally his troops, General Bernard Bee told his troops “Look, there is Jackson with his Virginians, standing like a stone wall!” (ushistory.org n.d.) From that point forward, he was and will always be reffered to as General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Stonewall Jackson and his men advanced on the Union troops. He ordered his men to wait until they were within 50 yards of the enemy before engaging, and to “yell like furies”, giving the Confederates the first battle cry of the Civil War.
Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson is known for standing like a stonewall against the enemy in the First Battle of Bull Run. He became a very important person in the South because he was such a good commander. He didn’t let his past define who he was. Even though he was kicked out of his own home, because his step-father didn’t like him, he still went to school and graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. Right after school, he went into the military, where he made a very big difference in the war (Stonewall Jackson, 2016).
This report focuses on a period of American history between the years of 1820 and 1840. This period of time was just after what historians have labeled as the Era of Good Feelings because the nation had been consumed with the recovery of the War of 1812 which lead to a truly nationalistic sense of values and togetherness. Not to be out done, the period between 1820 and 1840 also had its own unique label. The period was known as the Era of the Common Man or as a time that was presided over by Andrew Jackson who was known as the President of the Common Man. This report therefore tries to present some of the characteristics of the era and examine events of the time to verify or contradict the label. In other words, based on the

Jesse’s mother and father are; Helen Burns and Noah Robinson, a boy next door, but later on his mother married Charles Jackson who adopted Jesse. Once Jesse finished college, he married Jacqueline Brown and had six kids. Jesse Jackson is a hero because he showed many traits a hero has, including; courage, faith, hope, pride, and etc. One might think he showed courage during 1965 when he went to march with Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, Alabama, for the Civil Rights movement.

Jesse Jackson was so committed to building his own legacy that he caused genuine concern with Dr Martin Luther King over this but impressed by his “drive and organizational skills”, King offered him a position earning $3,000 a year.Jackson demonstrated such a commitment to engendering himself to King he quit school. This commitment to community and civic duties would cause him to fail in every single academic setting of his life. Despite receiving one athletic scholarship to attend the University of Illinois, Jesse Jackson was more committed to serving his causes and was put on academic probation by the second semester. He was faced with flunking out or leaving voluntarily to pursue civic commitments and he chose America over his own personal betterment. Later at Chicago Theological Seminary, and committed to the cause at Selma, he “stopped showing up for classes” according to his professors. He had been a student less than a year and even failed to fulfill the mandatory course in sermon writing and delivery. Jackson told that professor, that he didn’t need to go to classes, that he was special; special enough to deserve his own holiday. Jackson did not sign up for classes that fall as his mind was made up to put America before himself although according to Chicago Theological Seminary
Jesse Jackson, a human rights activist, only wanted one thing in his lifetime, and that was equal rights for minorities, women, and members of the LGTBQ community.
