In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout Finch lives with her brother Jem Finch and widowed father Atticus Finch, in Maycomb, Alabama. Scout and Jem befriend a boy named Dill, and go about their summer plotting to get Boo Radely out of the masterious Radley house. Scout must choose to act as the young lady she is. Children at school would continuously vex Scout about her father defending an African-American. Atticus represented Tom Robinson,who was accused of rape. Unfortunately, the innocent Tom was convicted and thrown in jail. Tom then attempted to escape and was shot. Mr. Ewell got the idea of harming Jem and Scout, but then the story veered into a much unexpected situation. …show more content…
The novel begins with our narrator Scout as a six year old, who is a tomboy and follows her brother Jem in his antics. Scout is faced with many challenges and decisions but she tried to not let anything faze her. Jem is Scout's older brother, who does not back away from dares. As his age increases so does his maturity and thoughts on differnt things. Atticus is the widowed father of Scout and Jem, with a job as a lawyer. He is always open to help people see the optimistic views of any situation. Dill is a boy who visits Maycomb every summer from Meridian, Mississippi. He soon becomes very close to Scout and Jem, and continuously attempts to get Boo Radley out of the house. Calpurnia is an African-American who is the cook and also acts as a mother figure for Scout. Calpurnia is a trustworthy person who watches over the kids when Atticus is busy working. Boo Radley is one of the hermit residents of the Radley house. Boo leaves gifts for Jem and Scout and is one of the good people mistaken for creepy and
Boo Radley is a mysterious and suspicious character, where throughout the beginning and middle of the book, Scout, Jem, and Dill have a preconception of him being a mean, old man. At the ending of the book, when Boo saves the children from Mr. Ewell, Scout sees how she prejudiced him based on other people’s beliefs. Boo is one of the most misunderstood characters of the book, starting out as a fantasy and a monster, but then he turns out to be very thoughtful, brave, and kind.

In the Halloween night when Jem and Scout returned from school, Boo Radley saved them from Bob Ewell who tried to kill them by the knife because of the hatred with Atticus Finch. When you are hurt by somebody you should move on and just let it go which Atticus was trying to teach Jem and Scout.

Jem, Scout, and Dill were three kids raised in the Deep South in a small town known as Maycomb, Alabama in the early 1930’s. These kids grew up around racism and prejudice all their life. Atticus Finch, the father of Scout and Jem, raised the kids by himself with later help by Aunt Alexandra. During this part of the children’s lives, a positive, genuine, black man by the name of Tom Robinson was falsely accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Atticus Finch was the defense attorney of this trial and did everything he could to free him. Most people today would view this way of living as ruthless and wrong, but in these times, it was just another day. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee painted a solid picture of the theme of loss of innocence through Dill, Scout, and Jem and their experiences in the story.
Not only was Atticus’s life threatened but Scout’s and Jem’s as well .Bob Ewell attacked Scout and Jem on their way home from school one night.
