Being a food critique has its good side and bad side. Ones passion for food has to be above and beyond. Not everyone loves food as much as the New Yorker Jeffrey Steingarten, he may not have a favorite kind of food but he will try just about anything. As an open minded person he is well respected as a judge in food shows, he has developed books about food, and has won many awards for his writing. He has becomes a well successful person.
Born May 31, 1942 in Hewlett, New York, Jeffrey Steingarten has accomplished many goals since he graduated Harvard University. He attended Harvard University in 1965 and Harvard Law School in 1968. He soon left law school to work for Vogue magazine in 1989. He is now the leading food writer in the United States. Jeffrey has a monthly column in Vogue and has earned a National Magazine Award and a dozen James Beard Awards and nominations. …show more content…

In these books he writes about his journey on being a food critic for Vogue Magazine. He is also a star judge on the TV show Iron Chef America. With his straight forward critiques to star chefs he has gained some hating fans and some fans that love him and will protect him for being so open minded and open minded about the food he tries. Steingarten does not have a favorite type of food. He has become the inventor for the C.I or Calamari Index; it is the introduction as a measurement of how Americans have progressed as eaters over the past couple generations.
