The quality of life simply means the standard of health, comfort, and happiness experienced by an individual or group. Japan is one of the world’s most successful democracies and largest economies. Japan is a small country of about 377,962 km². It is an island nation in north-eastern Asia. It is the 10th largest country in the world by population of 127 million. Mexico is a region in North America with a population of 127.5 million which is .5 more than Japan’s population. The country's total area is 1,972,550 km², 5 times larger than Japan.As you can already see, we’ll compare the quality of life between Japan and Mexico throughout this essay. Japan’s government is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary government. The legal voting age in Japan’s non-compulsory electoral system is 18 years. When you look at the quality of education, Japan is a top performing country scoring an average score of 540 in reading literacy, maths and science in the OECD's Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). While Mexico only scored 417, much lower than the OECD average 497. This means that Japan has a better quality of education by PISA score of 123. The quality of education affects the employment and unemployment rates in both countries. Since Japan is a top performing country in education, it has a much higher employment rates than Mexico and the OECD average. 73% of individuals in Japan aged between 15 to 64 have a paid job, higher than the OECD average,whereas Mexico only has 60% people aged 15 to 64 with a paid job. In Japan, women have more chances of being employed than in Mexico.
