Desperate times call for desperate measures, because the obesity epidemic is only growing we must find a way to combat unhealthy eating habits before it’s too late. In the United States heart disease, all cancers, stroke, and diabetes are among the top ten causes of death. People all around the world are eating themselves to death. Where did the problem start and where will it end? It started when fast food establishment, big industries, and convenience became a booming business. We must all take part in how we teach ourselves and the next generation's healthy eating habits. They did however have problems with kids drinking plain milk. Jamie Oliver a chef saves lives with education about food. He helps school in his area through his program Huntington's kitchen. It only took six-and-a half grand of local sustainable money per school to move them from the junk to fresh foods. Jamie Oliver showed us why it was hard for kids to give up chocolate milk. With 4 tablespoons of sugar in each carton it amounts to over 1140 tablespoons of sugar a year it easy to see the problem. At Beaumont Senior High School and many other schools in the United States students are given commodity foods there are also known as government leftovers. Cooking stopped being passed down from generation to generation and food became processed and convenience. Fast food chains contribute to the Obesity epidemic in low income areas and all round the word. Fast Food and junk food are easier and cheaper to buy and often require little to no preparation. Technology also plays a part in how children are now growing up. Instead of going outside and playing children choose to stay indoors playing video games or watch television. It will end when we realise the seriousness of the issue and work together to improve the eating habits of everyone in this country. Starting in each community we can educate the children and parents to ensure childhood obesity will not affect one in six adolescent. In conclusion, the Obesity epidemic is ever-growing and without the efforts of everyone no change will be made. It is time for us to fight for the future of America by making changes in the schools and educating our children. By showing them the difference between unhealthy life and a healthy one. Having an improved health class from k-12 we can give students life skills that will better and prolong their future.
