Although Islam is the second largest religion in the world with a following of 1.8 billion followers, no other religion has faced more scrutiny and hardship in the past decades. This has been caused by media and governments labeling Islam as a whole with their extremist groups like Al Queda and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. I even thought that the principals held by these extremist group were more common in Islam than they are. After studying Islam and gaining more information I came to respect this religion more than any other we studied this semester because of its seriousness and unity. The Quran and Hadith provide concrete details and instructions to follow in the faith of Islam. No texts from any other religion are as upfront with their beliefs than these. Muhammad was and continues to be a powerful and understanding leader that has led it to becoming the world’s fastest growing religion. I enjoyed studying the powerfulness of Muhammad and the direct voice of God in the Quran that is sets Islam apart from Judaism and Christianity. His influence and words continue to deeply inspire muslims even though he has been dead for centuries. Muhammad is one of the most interesting religious figures of any religion. He is a mix of all the other important figures from other religions. Like the Bhudda, he began his life as a normal citizen and then became a spiritual figure. At least for me, this allows me to find his words and teachings more believable because he is completely human. He is like Jesus because he is a prophet of God, but he isn't described as half human, half God. This gives him the same importance and validity as a translator of the Holy Spirits word. Since Muhammad is completely human his interpretations can be more believable because there isn't room for confusion on how he was created. Not only was he a spiritual leader of Islam but, he was also a political leader of the Islamic state. I think his leadership background with his business and political background allows Muhammad to better preach the word of Allah. The Hadith also plays an important role in the figure of Muhammad and Islam. It almost functions like a story to tell the life of Muhammad in critical detail. The intricate
The civilization and nation of Islam grew as an excessive empire and the religion grew as fast as the empire. Also some of their methods and practices were getting people to believe in their god which helped establish their empire.

Throughout the entirety of the Islamic faith, Islamic civilizations have contributed ideas and characteristics of their culture that have spread throughout the world. Also, Islamic civilizations have helped to develop a variety of ideas and caused fields of industry and facets of culture to advance. These fields include but are not limited to education, medicine, mathematics, technology, literature, architecture and trade. Although every industry in the Islamic civilization has an important role in society, education, medicine and trade prove to be the three most important aspects of Islamic achievements.
As Muhammad was the first to receive the Qur’an, he had the knowledge and understanding to interpret it and show how the principles of the Qur’an could actually be translated into life. Muhammad did not only preach to Muslims about how they should live and the guidance to life but he also showed them it into action, gave them an example (his life). He was a Sunnah – path or example. The perfect man – (al-Insan e Kamil). Many Muslims call him that. He was a perfectly faithful Muslim. Muhammad was seen as the perfect man by Muslims because he was totally and completely devoted to his religion. He was faithful, he continued praying etc.
It was very different from other religions, and some things really caught people’s attention. The values of the Qur’an were absolutely fair to all people, which was something to like about the religion. In the Qur’an, it shows that all lives matter because it says saving one life is equal to saving the whole human race. It is an undeniable fact that the Qur'an is a living book that has influenced millions of people through its beauty and style. The Qur’an is a great source of Islamic faith. Many early Muslims had a great deal of faith. Due to the complete honesty and the influence of the appealing personality of Muhammad, the faith of his supporters were unusually strong. It was based on their first-hand acquaintance with his exemplary life. After hearing about ‘The Origins of the Islamic State’, the Hims adopted the religion. Since the religion was adopted, it spread all over
In the 7th century A.D., Islamic faith was charging through the Middle East. Many reasons are to credit for the rise of Islamic faith. However the muslims attacks on other nations, Islamic beliefs and trade were the key contributors into the rise of the Islamic religion. There army would lay waste to other nations. Also the Islamic beliefs were intriguing and the city of Mecca was in the middle of a bunch of trade routes which helped spread the religion.
Islam originated in present day Saudi Arabia where the prophet, Muhammad, had been born. Islam would later be able to spread quickly through trade, the appealing nature of the Islamic faith, and military campaigns.
Islam is defined as, “the monotheistic religion based on the doctrine of submission to God and of Muhammad as the last chief and prophet of God”(Dictionary 720). There are multiple practices included in the religion of Islam, similar to any other religion. Compared to Christianity or Judaism, when one follows Islam, one must follow The Five Pillars of Islam and the rules and circumstances of the worshipping practices. In addition, depending on the branch one is apart of, they may have to follow laws enforced by different prophets as well. One’s lifestyle will change because when following Islamic faith, their religious life is their main priority. Meaning, a Muslim makes the commitment to the practices one-hundred
Islamic rule spread over major areas of Africa, the Middle East, South, Southeast and Central Asia, Spain, and Southern Italy. Many Christians saw Islam as a religion of the sword. They have been very violent throughout their history. Arabian armies engaged in attacking the remnants of the Byzantine Empire. The First Crusade was launched in order to stop the Arabian invaders.
On the surface Muhammad is usually considered to be a prophet and messenger of God, but when looking closer we can see that He played many more roles in His life time including one of a Statesman.
The Quran is a highly revered book in Islam. It is not only valued for its contents, but also more essentially for its status as Revelation. For this reason it is not a common practice among Muslims to make any significant reference to the history of the Quran. More appropriately, they make reference to the history of the Revelation of the Quran . According to the Islamic story, Allah revealed the entire Quran to Muhammad in the Night of Majesty. Afterwards, it then descended to the prophet Muhammad in stages over a period of 23 years. Because the prophet is believed to have been illiterate, the book’s great literary excellence is considered a miracle and one of the greatest proofs of revelation.
Khadija was fifteen years older than Muhammad. Muhammad accepted work from Khadija and had led a few caravans for her. Credit should be given to Khadija for Muhammad’s success with Islam because it was her wealth that enabled him to spend a significant amount of time in religious meditation and isolation. Even though she was some years older than her twenty-five-year-old employee and had been married twice, she asked him to marry her (Phipps, 35).
"Islam" is derived from the Arabic root salaama meaning peace, purity, submission and obedience. Islam stands for making peace by submitting to the will of God and obeying His law. Jews and Christians view Islam as the latest of the world's great religions. However, worldwide Muslims (sometimes written "Moslems") understand their universal religion as the "final religion" and the "primal religion."
For my paper I decided to choose the religion of Islam. I decided to pick this religion because of its fast growing rate. It is also different from what I am used to growing up with, so I was interested in learning more. I had learned some basic facts after the 9/11 event, but the Muslim religion and culture was still a mystery to me. Picking this topic has helped me learn more about Muslims and will help me better relate to them in my future work.
