There are many religions that people currently practice. In some cases, one religion is practiced among different cultures, such as Islam. Islam is a religion that is constantly expending and increasing in numbers of believers. It is known, that this religion is practiced not only in Arabic countries, where is originally came from, but we can find its worshipers in America and Europe as well. In this project, I will explain what Islam is, I will review the teachings of this religion with emphasize on object of human creation, view of faith, and beliefs. Next, I will describe how Islam is practiced and who Muslims are among different countries, such as Great Britain and America. Also, I will go over the interaction between Muslims and non-Muslims and briefly describe similarities and differences between both groups. In addition, I will explain how Islam is contrasted with Christianity and Judaism. Islam is well acknowledged faith, which is known to be the second largest practiced religion in the world. The word “Islam” got its beginning from the root “salam”, meaning peace. Currently, it means surrender or submission to the Will of God. Islam is a monotheistic religion; there is only one God - Allah. Allah is eternal, omniscient, and omnipotent: has always existed and will always exist, knows everything that can be known, and can do anything that can be done (BBC, 2011). Allah is neither woman nor man, cannot be heard, and cannot be seen. In addition, his worshippers
Islam believes in the existence of one God, Allah. It also believes in strict adherence to certain lifestyle principles and that the will of God for an individual is revealed through the Koran. Islam binds all believers to a common faith creating a sense of
The Islamic and the United States’ laws have some similarities, but not many. There are limitations within the laws for Muslims since their laws are based on the religious beliefs as documented by the Islamic law of Shariah. Although the United States and Islamic countries have the same outlook on the death sentence, that are still some states that have not fully adopted the law. Basically, both countries believe that inhabitants cannot have blame placed on them until they have been proven wrong.
the government and media. I believe that people running this country are Anti Islamic due to there view on things. Also this is a Zionist country, which is another reason that makes the media discriminate against the Muslim’s, due to the conflict with Palestine and other Muslim countries. The media has always portrayed Islam in a negative way. The reason the media is biased when it comes to Islam because they hate the Islamic structure and the beliefs. The majority of media conglomerate ownership is of people who
Islam, a religion of people submitting to one God, seeking peace and a way of life without sin, is always misunderstood throughout the world. What some consider act of bigotry, others believe it to be the lack of education and wrong portrayal of events in media; however, one cannot not justify the so little knowledge that America and Americans have about Islam and Muslims. Historically there are have been myths, many attacks on Islam and much confusion between Islam as a religion and Middle Easter culture that is always associated with it. This paper is meant to dispel, or rather educate about the big issues that plague people’s minds with false ideas and this will only be touching the surface.
Islam, meaning submission or submitting oneself fully to God, is one of the world’s largely practiced religions. Those that participate and practice the Islamic religion
Islam is the second largest and fastest growing religion in the world. Islam is also one of the three most well-known monotheistic religions. The other well-known monotheistic religions are Judaism and Christianity. Indonesia is the home of the world's largest Islamic population. Indonesia is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen by the way. The Islamic faith is based on the belief in their one God, Allah. Allah is the Muslim name for God. Muslims believe that Allah is the creator of the universe. I find the ideas behind Allah very interesting. For example, Allah more or less means god, so one would think you could say "the Christians believe in Allah". This is not true because nothing else can be called Allah. The word God can
The objective of this work is to examine Islam, a highly controversial sensitive issue in today's world and specifically to examine the misconceptions, beliefs, and values of those of the Islamic faith. Most people think that the majority of Muslims live in the Middle East, while in reality there are more people of the Islamic faith living in Indonesia. Islam, just as Judaism and Christianity, is practiced in various cultures, serves to shape, and is shaped by those cultures. This study examines the perceptions of those of the three faiths in various countries and how they view one another and seek to answer how a level of threat is felt by those belonging to these three religious groups in various countries. Countries examined in this study include those of the United States, Great Britain, India, Pakistan, and the Middle East. The depth of understanding or the teachings of Islam among the various religious groups in these various countries will also be examined in terms of how these understandings impact the ways that Muslims and non-Muslims interact and communicate with one another.
Islam is a very interesting religion founded in the Middle East during the 6th century C.E. and is still thriving as a religion today with over 1.6 billion adherents. The term Islam actually represents what the people of Islam wish for their religion to represent. The word “Islam” in Arabic means “acceptance” or “commitment” which may differ from many peoples stereotypical depictions of the Islamic people as harsh and evil. These people who follow the religion of Islam are called Muslims, so Muslim and Islam are not two different religions, just Muslims are the people who follow Islam.
According to the book Islam in America by Johnathan Curiel, one can find evidence that the story of Muslims in America all the way back to beginnings of slave trade to the United States in the 1700’s. About 20% of African slaves that were brought to America were Muslims. During this early times in the country, the number of Muslims is estimated to be around 25,000 but were forced by their owners to convert to Christianity. (Curiel, 2015) Though many Muslim slaves, showed that they had converted, many still held on to their faith in Islam. As the number of Slaves increased from 250,000 to 500,000, it is estimated that the number of Muslims increased. (Curiel, 2015)
The word Islam means "surrender" or "submission," submission to the will of Allah, the one God. Muslims are those who have submitted themselves. The basic creed of Islam is brief: There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah. Islam teaches
Muslims have been treated horribly throughout the history of the United States. The attacks on September 11, 2001 only further put Muslims in a negative standing with other Americans. Many Americans view all terrorists as Muslims because of the terrorists claiming the religion of Islam for their actions. The attacks put fear into the hearts of all Americans eventually leading to the war on terrorism. With a renewed sense of nationalism many Americans joined the armed forces to take down the terrorist threat. Americans gained strong feelings of resentment towards Muslims due to the terrorist threat. Because of this misunderstanding many Muslims are shunned by American society as a result. Many Muslims due to being shunned stray away and practice their religion in seclusion to avoid scrutiny. The true terrorists and the contributions that many Muslim Americans make to aid the United
The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God". The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a
Islam is not a new religion but the final culmination and fulfillment of the same basic truth that God revealed through all His prophets to every people. For a fifth of the world's population, Islam is not just a personal religion but a complete way of living. Over a billion people from all races, nationalities and cultures across the globe are Muslim--from the rice farms of Indonesia to the deserts in the heart of Africa; from the skyscrapers of New York to the Bedouin tents in Arabia.
Islam is an Arabic word meaning submission and therefore Islam religion is believed to be an Abrahamic religion which believes in submission to the almighty God Allah and Muhammad as the prophet. Quran is the holy book believed to be the guideline of the Muslims who are the followers of the Islamic religion. It is believed that Allah repeatedly revealed to Muhammad verbally through angel Gabriel and recited in the Quran (Hadith of Revelation, Volume 1, Book 1, Number 3). Over time particular aspects arose from the Quranic teachings and Muslims began to have questions about the teachings and translation of The Quran, thus, narrations were developed in Hadiths.
