Asimov most certainly highlights in his novel I,Robot that the future robotic technology is an asset and is something that is not worth feeling concerned about. Asimov portrays robots as an advantage to humanity and something that is purer than any other form of technology. In addition to this, Asimov uses the short stories in I,Robot to establish that any issues faced involving robots can be solved, which demonstrates that Asimov is evidently not warning us about the dangers of the future of robotics. Isaac Asimov unquestionably espouses that a robot’s purpose is to tremendously support humanity as a whole, which proves that Asimov indicates that the future robotics is something that we should not feel pessimistic about. Robots are designed to help humans, which is justified through the second law of robotics ‘a robot must obey any orders of human beings’. If robots are described by Dr Calvin the introduction as ‘a cleaner better breed than [what] we are’, it is absolutely preposterous to believe that Asimov connotes robotics as an alarming factor of the future. As a matter of fact, Asimov displays how precise robots are in the story ‘Reason’ when Cutie ‘kept the beam directed sharply at the receiving station - to within a ten-thousandth of a millisecond.’ Not only does this show how accurate Cutie is, but it also shows how Cutie is so pure that he saves Earth, despite having different beliefs. Asimov then goes on (two words - on to) to compare a ‘lumbering tractor’ to a far more ‘advanced robot’ in Robbie, which highlights how much more superior robots are compared to antique technology.
