In the article “America and Americas: Is the American Dream Even Possible?”, written by John Steinbeck, he uses a series of paradoxes and generalities to show how Americans themselves are paradoxical and how they are never happy with what they have. For example, the author states “We fancy ourselves as hard-headed realists, but we will buy anything we see advertised, particularly on television, and we buy it not with reference to the quality or value of the product, but directly as a result of the number of times we have heard it mentioned” (Steinbeck). A wise person,Tommy Hilfiger once stated, “the road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it’s possible to achieve the American Dream”. This quote means that through willpower and passion, anyone can become successful. In the world we live in now, achieving the American dream can be challenging than before, on the contrary, with the right mindset, and inspiration the American dream is still possible.That being said, yes the American dream is still possible to accomplish, getting a good location, a future, and lastly a monumental historic moment that can be never unremembered.

The America Dream is defined in general as a dream of a land that is better richer for everyone based on accomplishment and opportunity. This dream is usually sought after by people who have been deprived of their social and human values. People who have not been able to achieve this dream based on restrictions of their situations that plague their lives. As citizens of America, we all work towards acquiring one thing: The American Dream. The American Dream is something that most citizens of America try their hardest to attain at least some point in their life time. This dream may include but is not limited to, wanting to reach a certain social class, having a safe country with strong military forces, and also wanting to “fit in”, or to find his or her’s place in life. Also, this dream may or may not look similar to the American dream you want to inquire. While most of us desire to attain most of the things listed above, some of us always dream of having a nation where the color of your skin and social standards do not define who you are as a person. However, while citizens may want these things, not all of America may agree with each other. A question that has merged into our minds is, “ is the American dream attainable?”

Is The Dream Still Alive? With times changing, as people of America, Our opportunities seem to be slightly within our reach. Working hard for what we want is the key to all success, even through times of absolute struggle. The American Dream is and always will be a reality, no matter how many people conclude that our dream has evaporated throughout history.

Many years ago today, the United States of America was the prime example of prosperity and opportunity. It established America with the idea that its citizens would be guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Today, it is true that people have liberties and are free to pursue happiness. However, in recent years, in the worst recession since the Great Depression. Unemployment, growing economy inequality, and medical care have skyrocketed. Despite the odds, the American Dream is still a goal that many people strive for and hope to reach. In fact, an essay written by Brandon King, The American Dream: Dead, Alive or on Hold? He says, “the American dream is a dream in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with the opportunity for each according to his/her ability and achievement…” (King 610-611). Therefore, the problem with the American Dream lies not within the dream itself, but within the means people pursue to attain this dream.

Every person in the world has dreams and goals in life. In America during the 1920’s the goal was to be rich and show their wealth off. That was the American Dream, an ideal coined by James Adams’ The Epic of America in 1931. Many in today’s society believe the American Dream to be unachievable, that it is impossible for the majority of people to accumulate enough wealth to be happy. This is correct if they find happiness in material things, research shows that people are finding more happiness in material benefits and simple lifestyles.

“Our workforce and our entire economy are strongest when we embrace diversity to its fullest, and that means opening doors of opportunity to everyone and recognizing that the American Dream excludes no one” (Thomas Perez). The American Dream, or promise of equal opportunity, is accessible to all Americans because Americans have the chance to receive a good education and rise to the middle class and achieve what elsewhere may not have been possible. The American Dream revolves around making better living conditions for individuals and their children. People who manage to achieve their respective are deemed to have the American Dream. Part of the dream involves controlling one’s own fate, becoming successful, and having good living conditions.

once said, "What a dream will always be a dream", so yes, the American dream is still possible, and will always be possible. All we as American need to do is believe in our self that we can achieve the dream no matter what. In the Speech Keynote Address to the 2004 Democratic National Convention by Barack Obama, he gave examples of things people in America believe. For example, he stated "John Kerry Believe in America, and he know it not enough for some of us to prosper.
