As a trainer for a Health Trust it is my role to train all members of medical and non-medical employees how to use the clinical system. There has been a change in the clinical database by way of a new innovative system named Lorenzo which resulted in over 1000 employees being retrained on how to access the new clinical system to record their patient activity. The project began by requesting all members of staff to attend mandatory computer training as a requirement of their job specifications. As this was a vast process the training was divided in to clinical training and administrative training. The training material was developed with role specific objectives; clinical members of staff were trained to record their relevant activity …show more content…
In reflection to my own teaching I summarise that motivation is a considerable learning barrier which is overcome by having the individual’s needs met thus underlining the relationship between motivation and pedagogy. Having a craft of knowledge is how Florian (2013) describes pedagogy; Florian believes that the art of teaching is having the ability to maintain a diverse and complex classroom and to also view pedagogy as a process of inclusive practice. The ability consequently, is determined by the teacher’s individual expertise. The teacher must demonstrate all aspects of inclusive teaching whilst responding to all variances. By creating tailored E-learning packages to support outside the classroom demonstrate inclusive practice. Beetham & Sharpe (2013) have researched how pedagogy survives alongside technology and relates to pedagogy as guiding the learner through a process. Beetham & Sharpe state that a link exists between pedagogy and technology and the style of pedagogy should adapt to the change in the use of technology. As the digital age continues teacher must rethink their attitude to technology and ensure that technology is not an appendix alongside their traditional style of teaching but is incorporated in to the lesson plan. Focus is still on guiding the learner through the process; E-learning is a process and therefore needs the support of pedagogy. Beetham & Sharpe also write that there has been an explosion of learning
A learners’ reason for wanting to learn something new can affect their motivation. A learner who is self-funded and wants to learn for personal or job progression reasons is likely to be more highly motivated than some who been “told” to attend, sent against their will or who is not interested in the subject.
Motivation is the key to supporting and advancing the learning of children and young people within my class. Motivation affects the nature of an individuals behaviour, the strength of the behaviour, and the persistence of the behaviour. There are many approaches to motivation: physiological, behavioural, cognitive and social. It is the crucial element on setting and achieving goals.
The fundamental aim of motivation within an educational environment is to essentially make certain that their students are continuously encouraged in order for them to complete any task effectively. The core significance of student motivational approaches is to aid an educator in boosting up student morale. An additional role of motivation is to ensure that even when students are facing a difficult time outside of school they are always encouraged to
One of the most essential aspects of the educational process is to know how to motivate students for learning. A challenging part of being a teacher is to know and learn how to motivate students. First of all, a good definition for motivation is as Byrnes quote “Motivation is construct
Motivation is an important aspect of everyday life. "Researchers have consistently found that an approach based on extrinsic rewards and consequences actually reduces children's intrinsic motivation to learn" (Solley). Motivation is lost due to the pressure
According to the Webster dictionary, motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. The student learning process is when the subject gains a mental or physical grasp of a topic. The relationship between motivation and student learning is a fine line. During the classroom instructional process, teachers will have to discover various ways to motivate students to learn. The purpose behind this concept is for teachers to establish an effective functional instruction method to use in the classroom to engage students. Understanding of learners’ motivation is the key to effective instructional design (Clayton, 2010). According to Bain, deep learners respond well to the challenge of mastering
'Motivation is a process that influences the direction, persistence and vigour of goal-directed behaviour. Psychology 's diverse theoretical perspectives views motivation through different lenses. (Passer, Smith, Holt, Bremner, Sutherland, Vliek., 2009, p.475). The psychological motivational theory that I
Motivation can be defined as the desire or inspiration to carry out specific tasks or to do something. Motivation is required when goals are being set and more so in their execution. In a work setting, motivation can be defined as a process through which individuals choose between alternative forms of behavior with the aim of achieving personal objectives. The goals sought by individuals can be extrinsic or relatively tangible such as monetary rewards and promotion, or intrinsic or intangible such as self esteem or job satisfaction (Armstrong, 2006). In learning, the desire to attain good grades is what motivates a student to study hard everyday as they prepare for the exam. On the other hand, for a teacher to put his best foot forward, he
A theory that supports motivation is the self determination theory. In the self determination theory people need to grow and gain fulfillment by a drive in them. Self Determination is the process of deciding how to act on ones environment. When one is trying to overcome a challenge or encountering a new experience a person wants to gain the knowledge to succeed over the new challenge. When self determination theory is in focus internal factors are at play; a person is primarily focused on the need to gain knowledge or independence. There are three factors that contribute to a student’s self determination and the needs are linked to the student’s
The advent of modern technology and its integration with the education systems has opened up many possibilities, and forced educational practitioners to rethink and restructure the content, pedagogical tools, and methods of delivery. As a result, the educational system has evolved continually, and at the same time opening up new and countless opportunities. This has definitely captured the imagination of many students, researchers, and professionals. The integration of technology with education has brought about phenomenal opportunities as well as radical changes to the educational sector. Examples include the use of digital pedagogy, computer-aided instruction (CAI), distance or open learning, virtual universities, computer-based online testing, digital libraries, and so on.
A lot of people are heading to E-learning. E-learning is a short form of internet learning. That means if the person want to have E-learning he should ably online. E-leaning is the newest way of education in this century. So in the last few years a lot of people start to get their learning online. E-learning offers manes major to learn, open time to get learned, a degree of the major. Also E-learning could be in anywhere or in anytime. Because of that E-learning can be useful for workers, house wives, and mothers. But most of people are not aware of the negative effects of E-learning. Not fair, less method, and effects the health these are three main effects of E-learning.
E-learning is a hot topic in education. The use of devices and the internet changes what we see in a classroom. No longer is a teacher standing in front of a room instructing and then giving a worksheet as homework. Instead, we now have teachers assisting students to increase their knowledge by using a device and the internet. This literature review defines the term E-learning and gives examples of what E-learning may look like in an elementary classroom. It also examines the advantages and disadvantages to using technology in an elementary classroom. Finally, this literature review gives the role of the teacher in an evolving E-learning classroom.
Motivation originates from the reasons and emotions that contribute strong potential and meaning to the teachers and the learners. (Romando, 2007) Defined motivation as an internal drive that activates behavior and gives it direction. The motivation theory is concerned with the processes that describe why and how human behavior is activated and directed. Consequently, the motivation is responsible for achievement in language learning. Yet without adequate motivation, even learners with high aptitudes will not be able to succeed in learning.
Technology has indeed created a big impact on today’s world. Education changed with the change of strategies and reforms. Way back then education was exposed through libraries, exposures and educational trips but now people are in the so-called “Digital Age” – a different learning strategy and different learning style. Technology has created different way of learning that such process becomes a tool to prepare students to be empowered and the ability for them to use technology as a means to achieve their own dreams, goals, and
(Hayes & Stratton, 2003) described motivation as a “General term given to inferred underlying state which energies behavior, causing it to take place.” This essay will explore how motivation could improve learning in schools, by examining key arguments that explore both ends of spectrum, this essay will also explore areas where focusing on motivation has helped and where it has not. This essay will evaluate this claim from the perspectives of perceived benefits to how this claim can influence the way in which students learn in the future. In addition, this essay also will argue that whilst there is research to suggest there is a correlation between student learning and motivation. Can psychological theories equate to this and what effects will it have on student’s attitudes towards learning. Furthermore, this essay also aims to explore what happens to those students who have no interest in learning no matter how much motivation is given. Moreover, what are the alternatives for such students? How will schools deal with students who are not familiar with conventional forms for motivation? Is motivation theory the only tool that can be used to improve learning or are those students just labeled as ‘disruptive’ and/or ‘unwilling to learning’.
