With tuition costs skyrocketing and job opportunities declining for many graduates around the nation, it leaves many to question the supposed benefits of earning a college degree. In high school, students are geared towards the idea a college education will unlock various opportunities for those with a degree compared to those individuals without one. Although receiving a higher education may be extremely costly, it remains important to not underestimate its true value. It represents something beyond the roller coaster of party days and exhausting nights an individual will face. A degree symbolizes an effort and commitment to further your own knowledge, and ability for endless opportunities for doing so. For many people just like me, a degree may be a final step when it comes to proving the ability to go out into the world and make something of your self. To be able to say you went through the effort and made it. The valuable resources and connections I have personally made so far in my college career will be extremely beneficial for the career path I chose. A higher education is meant to stimulate individuals to think in their own way and develop new theories, which will allow for the growth of a society as a whole.
