The military has many uses for what could be considered invisible light from the author’s viewpoint. From an operational perspective, the military could use shortwave infrared (IR) goggles that work at the .65 and 2-micron range to effectively see at night which is about two times that of visible light that is at the .038 to .070-micron range. Other uses of invisible light are for heat seeking infrared sensors that lock onto very hot targets such as aircraft exhaust, building electrical and heating systems, and even campfires used by advisories on cold nights.
