Summary
To investigate cableways and design an efficient vertical transportation system for goods, in the hilltop communities of Nepal.
My research established an understanding of existing cableway technology and explored a practical engineering improvement for adaptation in developing countries. I identified that engineering, a topic of personal interest, should be the field of research considered. A discussion with university students was completed to find a specific issue that I could investigate. One topic suggested for investigation from the EngineersWithoutBorders Challenge, inspired the research question.
The outcome format, a report, discussed my key findings and recommendations including; the nature of cableways, influence of local topography, and constraints of existing technology. The majority of my secondary sources were reports written by academics or aid organisations, found on the web. Emailed questionnaires and personal interviews provided critical information and practical critique of the design outcome. Analysis of findings combined with creative thinking enabled a resolution of the research question. This was presented in the form of a proposed design at the conclusion of the outcome report.

Primary information was obtained by conducting interviews. I underestimated how effective this process would be until I conducted one. Discussing my project with an experienced manufacturer gave practical
Rathlin Island located just off the North coast of Northern Ireland (NI) has been selected as a suitable location for the Government to place a new windfarm. As the Government tries to move away from non-renewable energy sources this proposal for the windfarm will provide electricity to the towns of County Antrim. The Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) are concerned that the marine cable route should have as little impact on the natural and cultural environments, this is because the EU believes that the natural and cultural environments and the heritage they contain are an important resource for economic growth and employment (European Commissions, 2016). As such have assigned the task of identifying a suitable low impact route for the cable from Church Bay (Rathlin Island) to Ballycastle (Co. Antrim).
The study will address a number of alternative routes for motorist traveling to and from naval bases, the Peninsula and Isle of Wight County. Every effort will be made to minimize impact to motorists during the project for commuter convenience during the week with restricted lane closures during off-peak hours. The survey team will evaluate holiday travelers that utilize the tunnel and bridge; which holiday motorist travel the most and what are the peak hours. Logistics resources will propose materials required, turnaround time for material deliverables and
There are many ways of searching for relevant data sources such as the internet, books, previous reports and speaking to the team. However, you must take in to account how long it will take to research these different sources, whether they are available and how accurate and unbiased they are.
In this work related project analysis various information will be for gathering information. Some of the areas that will be covered are; methods of searching, interviewing techniques to gather the information, agreement for articulating requirements, and strategies to gather information for computerization. Requirements must
The team addresses that the main purpose of the study is to address long-term inter-regional transportation problems and opportunities and to consider alternative actions to addrees these issues as part of developing an integrated, multi-modal transportation system that permits the capable movement of people and goods, and provides better economic and transportation linkages between urban growth centres in the GTA west study area (figure 1) (Transportation development strategy report, 2012). In order to finalize the purpose of the study, the project team identified the specific transportation problems and opportunities within the study area (Transportation development strategy report, 2012). They developed, assessed and evaluated a range of Area Transportation System Alternatives to address the identified issues relating to transportation, and opportunities presented within the study area (Transportation development strategy report, 2012). Lastly, the team recommended a Transportation Development Strategy based on the Area Transportation System Alternatives supported onward from the assessment (Transportation development strategy report,
Throughout the course of history there have been many advances in the world of infrastructure, mostly occurring in the 1800’s and the 1900’s. Infrastructure is defined as the basic physical and organizational structure needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function. This definition shows how important infrastructure is to people’s lives today. It affects how people live, travel, and communicate with one another. Three men who made huge contributions in the world of infrastructure were Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch and Othmar Hermann Ammann. All three of these men were involved in designing numerous landmarks, highways, bridges, tunnels, and other forms of infrastructure that today we take for granted. Although all of these men were involved in infrastructure in the New York metropolitan area, their contributions, personalities, and the public’s opinion of them were all different.
Another important point would be to provide information. For example sales staff should explain in detail the main
Focus so much on the facts of the present or past. That is really important to define project feasibility.
1. Understand the product that you are working with prior contacting the consultant company to set a clear objectives and expectations for the outcome expected at the end of the project.
What 3 pieces of information should try to find out from your existing customers whilst researching their needs?
What elements of the process are you familiar with and what elements do you need to explore further?
• Researched information informs the design; with guidelines/constraints, such as Local Authority and Conservation Policy (A9), along with specialist consultant’s reports – including Day

The development of every nation hinges on the effectiveness of their transportation systems. Movement of goods, services and people to and from work is made possible by transportation systems. The importance of effective transportation systems cannot be over-emphasized. A lot of countries are facing Transportation problems and my country Ghana is no exception. A trip of about 30 minutes can take about an hour or more due to traffic jams. This is seriously impacting productivity and has been a topical issue in the country. The situation is the same in Uganda where I currently work. To this end, Transportation Engineers are needed to design roads/ highways that will stand the test of time, plan effective traffic management systems to reduce travel
