Throughout the month of January, I had my first legitimate internship. It is astounding how such a great experience was inconceivable just but five months prior to the new year. I honestly was unsure of what I truly wanted to do for weeks before I figured it out entirely. My interests always primarily fell somewhere between two categories: science and business. The only logical step was to contact businesses and corporations (profit and nonprofit) to explore the opportunities available to me, so that is precisely what I did during the summer. I previously participated in theatrical events, so I decided to include theaters as well. My project was confirmed only but a few weeks after, more towards the end of the season. Consequently, I was given …show more content…
The William Penn Foundation has a history of sponsoring local theatres in whatever endeavors they might have. However, perhaps the organization would reconsider the potential value of its generosity. If it were clear that the Walnut Street Theatre was indeed the most productive, proactive, and effective in its outreach program, then perhaps the William Penn Foundation would offer a larger grant. But what kind of proof could contribute to such a case? It was my responsibility to acquire this evidence, for it alone was the answer to expanding the outreach program and reaching more kids. Therefore, I created an extensive spreadsheet that contained information about every theatre in the most theatrically focused thirteen states of America. I researched for hours on end to gather the data that included: names, contact information, student discounts, specials; number of kids annually impacted through performances, classes, and schools toured. As my internship was coming to an end, I was proud to present a complete spreadsheet that I had the pleasure of titling The National Theatrical Outreach Statistics. The Walnut Street Theatre is by far the most proactive theatre nationwide in its endeavors of reaching out to schools across the Delaware Valley. I am sure that the William Penn Foundation will be pleased to hear that the Walnut Street Theatre has impacted a total of 180,129 students and teachers through its outreach programs. Thus, my arguably most influential project was complete, and left me with confidence that the Walnut Street Theatre will indeed receive a larger grant to benefit the children of all

All I can do is stare at the clock. Since 7:20 in the morning I’ve been waiting for the bell to ring at 2:20 in the afternoon. I know I go to one of the top nationally ranked schools, Coral Reef High School, but wow, I am sure eager to finish up my junior year. This summer is going to be different; I’m going to complete my internship at the South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union (SFEFCU). In Coral Reef you have to be part of a magnet program, I’m in business and very well known in the academy. Most people see my face at events, meetings, and around the business hallways doing my job as Vice President for the business club: Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Everyone expects more from an FBLA officer, which made me so proud to be an intern at the SFEFCU. They only accept 16 out of 300 business students and each intern has to pass three tests, and two interviews- very prestigious. The bell finally rang and now I’m free to summer.
I began New Mexico School for the Arts afraid of myself. It was a new school, thrust in the chaos of just trying to stay open. I walked into the gym to meet a man with white hair, blue jeans, and a bursting laugh that seemed to settle everyone’s anxiety. Mr. Chavez had embarked on establishing a school where New Mexico’s youth- so often overlooked and disregarded- could learn and master theatrical craft. He had left the large public high school, where the theater bore his own name, to found an opportunity for us. I sit here at my desk writing to you what potentially hundreds, maybe thousands, of people could say. Mr. Chavez changed my life. I say this without melodramatic intent, rather as a statement of fact.
As I’ve already been accepted into your online program, it has been made aware to me that to complete my financial aid process I must provide for you legal documentation of my parents inability to provide any financial assistance for me. Like most students when I graduated high school I left home to pursue individuality and my own personal goals though me and my parents were in contact and though they were listed on my financial aid worksheet they divided no financial means for me. I transferred to another community college shortly after my first year of attendance at Navarro College, I had moved in with my estranged mother, not only did this volatile relationship put a heavy toll on me mentally but physically as well as I became sick quite
As I approached the end of the school year and the start of the summer I had to decide if I was going to go back to my old job at a pool company or find a new job that could help me expand my knowledge and give me experience in the accounting field. When I really thought about it the decision was obvious and I began looking for places I could work as an intern. After two weeks I found the Law Office of Jerri Ann Cirino and the small office with a family like work environment really attracted me to this job. I also found it interesting to work in a law office that focuses on tax cases because I never thought to become a tax attorney. At this internship I was able to do basic accounting tasks like balancing checkbooks, booking to general
Cardinal Stage Company definitely is one of the biggest theatre organization at Bloomington, and according to our guest speaker, they have a budget around half million, which is great to a local theatre company. Nowadays, they have eight shows per season, and in total around 120 performances for the whole season. Some of their shows are touring at schools for their education outreach, which is a great idea to enrich children’s theatrical education. According to our guest speaker, they have around 700 subscribers now, which is definitely a large number of loyal audiences. It is obvious that Cardinal Stage has built their recognition in the community, and our guest speaker also told us that their holiday shows are extremely popular in the community,
The situation that brought me from my first internship to the second one was frustrating and difficult. Nonetheless, it provided me with beneficial learning experiences for my career and life in general. One of the silver linings of interning at these two considerably different internship experiences was increasing my knowledge of two different types of business. The first of these areas was in the Non-Profit organization at PACS, where their mission is to empower individuals who are struggling. The nonprofit industry has always deeply interested me, and what I learned at PACS only fueled that interest. The time I spent at PACS was brief and ended abruptly. Nonetheless, I learned valuable and significant information and gained an understanding of the various business characteristics that are essential in nonprofit organizations.
My pathway for this project is the internship pathway and I plan to become a in the Southern Education Leadership Initiative (SELI). A project that works with various organizations in the American south to bring education equality. This project should help me grow in gaining experience in working in environments that I am not necessarily used to. In order to do this though I need to apply for the fellowship and if I am accepted I need to find a place to live when I am assigned a location.
It’s been a great experience doing an internship at OfficeMax. Through this internship, I realize I need to be more proficient. This internship gave me an opportunity to develop professional skills. When I’m presenting a safety technique I need to make sure I don’t have any grammar errors in the materials I created. The reason why I need to make sure there are no grammar errors is that so I don’t undermine my credibility in front of everyone. I have to proofread my written work carefully. I had to always ask someone to check my work before presenting to the employees. I had to plan and practice the concept I’m training beforehand. People expect I know the concept well and know how to train what I’m teaching. It made me realize how important good communication skills are. I was able to learn more than I ever expected from this internship.

Timber is the biggest in volume among stuff in landfill, with the proportion of 14% of the total waste (Statistic New Zealand, 2008). Recently, Palmerston North City Council (2012) stated the proportion of timber waste slightly decrease into 13% in 2012 (PNCC, 2012). From recycling perspective, timber is considered as “partially recoverable” waste, since the untreated timber can be reused directly, while the treated timber is such a problem due to the chemical it contains (PNCC, 2012). According to PNCC (2012), the number of potentially recovered timber is 2,834
One of the main things I knew going in to my internship was that I wanted to work with kids, specifically I wanted to work with at-risk kids to help them through their struggles to lead a more successful life into adulthood. I thought of ways I could do this and realized that the best avenue for me to do that kind of work was through a government organization. I thought of community based government funded organization as the best way to assert myself in that kind of work weather it was a juvenile home or a school. That was the extent to which the broadness of my idea was.
After nine months of studying, I was finally going to obtain a real work experience in a non-profit organization. I was filled with enthusiasm to finally integrate theoretical knowledge, learned in class, in the real work environment. My first days of internship were full of stress, as I wanted to make a good first impression on my supervisor. I met the team with whom I will be working during the next four months and I was introduced to my responsibilities and duties. CCAfrica, being an organization focusing on Africa, was the best place for an internship for me. I have a broad knowledge about the continent and thought it will enhance my experience. During the four months, most of my duties were centered on
Following my first year at college, I jumped on the opportunity to take an internship with a
Before receiving my final internship assignment, I honestly did not have any true goals for my internship. I only knew that I was going to take every opportunity that was given to me, even if I don’t think the opportunity was fitting for my skill set. Upon getting my internship assignment at Theatre Delicatessen, an arts charity in Central London, I soon learned that this was not going to be a traditional theatre setting. I was assigned to work as an intern at their new location at the Old Library in Southwark to help prep for their @HOME Festival for Refugee Week. With that said, working at Theatre Deli, consist of a lot of sitting, brainstorming, and marketing. The first day at work, I, along with three other interns including our own Ellen Everitt, sat down with your lovely supervisor, Emma Blackman to plan duties that needed to be complete leading up to the festival. The first week consist of creating a poster, new flyers, and updating the social media. I was initially in charge of organizing a meeting with the four artists that are participating in the opening night event for the festival. I helped the artists gather the necessary materials and equipments needed to make your performance a success. After organizing a meeting for all the artists to come together, I assisted Ellen in adding lines to the poster. I also updated all the Eventbrites for each event. Ellen and I also collaborated on updating all the social media and teaching Emma how to efficiently utilize
